Well its bascially your nervous, endocine, and muscle system that might be out of wack..mostly likey that the signal that your body sends to your bladder to hold the urine isnt working right and then when it does release urine it doesnt send a signal to you body to wake you up when the urge is there i suggest talking to an Nephrologist that deals with the kidneys and urine!!

Moved to VT General Hospital.

This is pretty ironic, I have a friend who is actually in the same situation as you are. Due to my concern about him, I did a little research on the subject of teens wetting the bed.

Nocturnal Enuresis is the technical name for it. It basically means that you may not have the best bladder control, and when you fall into an extremely deep sleep, some sleep heavier than others, you simply cannot be woken up naturally to empty out your bladder. When the bladder is full it sends a message to the brain that it needs to be emptied, and then the brain relays a message back which keeps the bladder from automatically emptying in your sleep. If you do have nocturnal enuresis, you will not be woken up out of your sleep to pee due to the fact that you are in an extremely deep sleep, or you are being affected by other factors.

This can be caused by a number of different things:
- It could be a hormonal imbalence. A hormone called antidiuretic hormone (ADH) helps the body produce less urine at night, but sometimes we don't produce enough of this hormine - causing your bladder to fill while you sleep
- Your bladder could be weak, or small (not allowing it to hold much urine)
- You may have a sleeping condition that causes you to sleep heavier than the average teen
- It could be an emotional factor as well. Have you been having a hard time in school? Maybe with friends or with your family? Stress is a possible contributer to bedwetting.

To help your problem I would suggest not eating or drinking anything for at least two hours before you go to bed. And try to cut fizzy drinks, coffee and tea out of your diet - as they can irritate the bladder, in turn weakening it while you are asleep.

Another option would be to look into a bedwetting alarm. These alarms sense when you are wetting the bed and they let off a buzz or a ding to wake you up. By being woken up every time you begin to wet the bed, your brain will make the connection to wake you up when it realizes that you need to pee.

Good luck with all, I hope I helped - keep us posted with how everything goes!

Don't get mad at me for suggesting this but you could wear a nappy (diapper) while you sleep so it doesn't get on your bed.

Check to see if you have a weak bladder. Also what was mentioned above is a good idea. Also do you use the bathroom before you go to bed or are you just not urinating regularly during the day?

Its not helping the situation though and it is just going to make people self concious and more embarrased. I think that what everyone else has said makes sense you should go to a doctor if it's been happening all your life as there may be something really wrong. i know its embarrasing but it would only be a few appointments compared to the rest of your life if the doctor finds whats wrong.

Drink less fluids before you go to sleep and try an alarm to wake you up midway through your sleep so you can go to sleep.

i used to have this problem. i use the bathroom before bed. and there is nothing wrong with getting water proof sheets or a bedwetting alarm (never heard of this but sounds useful) anything that helps cant be bad.

I honestly don't know how to help with this, and it's very rare for me to say that. So, forgive me for posting, but I wanted to say it's not something you should be judged for, try not to feel bad about it. It's beyond your control, it will clear up in its own time.

As most people have already stated, cut down on drinks, especially ones with caffeine in them, tea, coffee, cola etc. Never drink at least 4 hours before bedtime, and always go to the toilet BEFORE you go to bed OR after masturbating (force it out if need be).

Also, when this was happening to me, I was always having a dream where I was in a toilet weeing, so if your having this dream, learn to wake yourself up, its not as hard as you think it is, and go to the toilet.

When going to the toilet, learn how to use the muscle that controls the flow, by stopping weeing mid flow. Once you recognize that muscle, you can practice it through the day, clench butt cheeks, as if you were stopping weeing, hold it for 10 seconds, release and keep repeating it whenever your sitting down or resting.

Hope this helps

make sure it's not a kidney problem would be advice. once thats out of the way, continue searching for an answer if that isn't it. my foster brother wet the bed constantly for awhile, the doctor found it was a kidney problem and he's good now.

It could be the tubules in you kidneys are blocked due to a clotting dissorter or diet. You also could trying to adjust you daily routine and pee more often.

Just what the others have said really, try not to drink too close to bed time and make sure you go to the loo...twice if possible, before bed.

I don't sleep deep enough to have this problem but I did have to keep getting up for a wee during the night a few years ago. So now I make sure I don't drink anything for atleast 1.5hours before bed and I go to the loo twice, once an hour before bed and again just before bed.....seemed to work for me. :)

There are TONS of causes for wetting the bed. You could have bladder issues, stress, drinking too much before bed, etc. I would just run down the list and pick out issues you might have and put a stop to them.
