Okay, does anyone else think that attending community college means that you're getting a mediocre education? I do want to jump right in to a university after high school, but teachers are always talking about the advantages of going to community college first? I am pretty confused, what do you think?

I am Pre-Med and attending a community college, you get the same education here that you would from any other university, it does not matter the praise of the university, what matters is what YOU MAKE OUT OF IT....
You are only as good as you study....the college doesn't make the student, the student makes the college.

I think where you start isn't important. Where you finish might be important to you. The bigger choice is your major and what kind of work you can find when you graduate.
Other things to consider is are you interested in joining a fraternity? It's easier to do that as a freshman than as a junior. Do you want to go to a big name school where it might be fun to be an alumni because of sports?
Where we go for the first to years is academically is going to be the same. Calc is calc no matter where you take it. Same for English, physics, bio, etc. but lets say you want to go into journalism eventually. Then doing your undergrad work at Northeastern, Syracuse, Columbia might make sense asap because you'd have a better chance of getting into their programs.
If money is an issue, then it's a no brainer and go to community college. can't beat the price. If you have good grades and SAT score, you'll probably get a scholarship if you apply.
I kinda dread applying, but I'm not concerned with that right now. The SAT is a huge deal if you want to have choices of where you go, so i'm focused on that and grades for now.

Not really. It's just way cheaper. What alot of the kids at my school are doing (and what I wish I had done) is taking the gen ed. courses at community college, and then take the actual core classes at the school you want to go to. You'll save alot more money.

No, especially if your paying for it. Community College is the smarter route, the classes are easier and its far less expensive and as long as they are basic classes, they will transfer to most actual Universities. It's all about what YOU make out of it. Doesn't matter where the degree is from, as long as your name is on the diploma, your ready, and it's now up to you to make something out of it.

Sorry I can not answer this question but what is a community college? Is it like a government run specialist courses for careers?
