When you get your vagie checked when you put your feet in the foot holders do you open them or keep them together till the doctor makes you do it.

I keep my knees together till the doctor says let them flop to the sides. As I open he pushes them down. :yeah:

Ya, I keep my knees together until my doctor tells me too. I just am not comfortable showing my doctor my vagina. It's just weird, my opinion though.

Hey, Ilikeflowers,

No, it's not weird...it's your body, and you should be comfortable when you're getting examined.

If you're not comfortable with the doctor, for whatever reason, ask about switching to another one. (Maybe you now have a male doctor and would prefer a female one?) This is VERY common and doctors are used to it.

Just ask nicely and I'm sure the doctor will help you find another one to go to, instead.

Good luck,
Becca

I have a female doctor, so I'm not uncomfy at all, besides she's pretty cute. The nurse was a guy, kinda strange, but I think he was new or nervous cos he didn't look between my legs once! When he handed he the plastic spec thingy, his hands were shaking. I wanted to say something to him, like don't be nervous, but I didn't cos my Mom was in the room, LOL;)

I had my first one dont yesterday it was the most awkward and uncomfortable exam that I had. I didn't put my legs in the foot things until my doctor told me to put them in. Just being that spread apart is so uncomfortable and a little bit embarrassing. I don't know how people say that they are not that bad.

I just had my first one last year and I didn't know I had an option so when he told me to lay down on the table I just kept them open. I was more worrie what he must be thinking cause I was completely shaved down there.

I'm sorry but these 13, 14, 15 and 16 years old girls are not getting pelvic exams. You don't even need a pelvic exam until you are at least 21. Get REAL here people. Most of you are probably guys anyway.

@laurenspencer: The pediatricians want you do get a pelvic exam when you are 13&14 but I am 15 and have not had one yet because I'm not comfortable getting one. I don't want to get one so therefore i wont until i have to.

That's not totally true their are conditions that do occur in teens cramping , infections. And some girls are sexually active. So the decision has to be made on a indivual basis. I do agree you don't need to go to a gyn just your regular doctor who does it during your regular check up.Regular doctors just do it without even telling you. And they do no pap an use no speculum. By getting the quick simple ones as a teen your not so creeped out by it when you get older.
