I've been to,d that they are the same thing except for calories, I've also heard that diet is even more unhealthiest. I'm confused! Which is better for you?

Diet uses artificial sweeteners, I think it's slightly worse.

Neither are good for you.

Diet Sodas are sugar free, artificially sweetened.
I only drink them because they taste better to me.

This. Diet soda uses artificial sugars such as Aspartame and sucralose. Which is supposedly worse for you then sugars found in non-diet soda.

Diet is worse, but I find it to be more addicting to me personally.

I hate anything with "diet" infront of it. I rather have the real thing once in a while.

Both are as bad as each other. While diet doesn't have sugar in it still has other things in it that make it "Diet" so its not that gooder substitute.

Diet coke has something in it that's proven too cause depression and emotional difficulties in people who already prone to it.

I stopped drinking Diet Coke because of that but tbh i've noticed no difference :P

The difference in the amount of calories in diet drinks and normal ones is unbelivably huge O.o There's less than 1 calorie in a diet coke and about 200 in normal coke.

yeah my dads gf is a dietician and she is always telling us to get the regular coke/sprite and stuff. Apparently although diet has a lot less calories it contains aspartame (artificial sweetner) which is about 200 times sweeter than normal sugar and can cause headaches, dizziness, mood changes, or skin reactions after consuming it.

I haven't tried diet soda .... both aren't the best for your health. But I hear that diet sodas are worse then the regular sodas.... so I would say drink the regular then the diet soda... diet has an addicting thing to it from what I heard.... but I could be wrong... haha

Ugh. The things you make me do anorexia.

Diet sodas are worse: the artificial sweeteners in them have been known to cause cancers and brain damage. Stick to regular or better yet, do what I did and quit altogether.

some diet sodas have a sweetener which is also used for swines to get fat before the butchers comes.
So humans will lose weight for sure...

Aspartame gives me a bad reaction. For the next 24 hours, all I can taste is toothpaste. I prefer regular :3

Regular is better. Diet contains aspartamine which is even worse for you than sugar. It may not have calories but it still damages ur body.

Regular, but drink diet. Eat enough as it is.

They're both bad. Yes, the Diet stuff has extra bad stuff in it to make it Diet, as already said.

But... 120-150 (or whatever) calories in your body? Is that really better?

Thirsty? Try water or milk. Water is some of the best stuff for you, and milk has calcium. At least THAT'S good for you, as it builds strong bones, etc.

aspartame is in diet sodas

aspartame is made from aspartic acid & phenylalanine dipeptide

aspartame has been put under tons of scrutiny from the FDA, because it is a poison, take a significant dose and it'll numb you then rot your organs and destroy your nervous system.

If you consume diet pop it's not as much aspartame but aspartame doesn't leave your body, so over years of diet pop it builds up and you start shutting down and your brain turns to empty sponge from where your gray matter has died.

all in all, don't ever consume aspartame, diet pop, most gum, coffee sweeteners.

It's healthier to consume real sugar than aspartame.

Barely. There are 140 calories (and other junk) in a 12oz can of Coke.

Obviously if you're worrying about the calorie content, you're not going to be drinking Coke.
However, the 140 calories and large quantities of sugar in normal coke are of a more natural base, and the body breaks them down easier.
The human body could break down the 140 calories in a regular Coke better than all of the artificial stuff in a Diet variety.
As is most always the case, quality over quantity.

apparently studies show in later years those who drink diet are more likely to gain weight. soda just isnt good for you, but if I have soda im sad to say I prefer diet

At the end of the day, it's about "which poison/drug" is better/worse for you. They're both bad.

Like I said before, it all leads to obesity, rotting teeth, etc. Water is the best stuff for you, probably followed by milk.

There's always the newer stuff like Pepsi Max and Coke Zero. I don't think those have the junk of the diets OR the calories. I see that Pepsi has some new stuff with 60 calories.

I'm pretty sure they're both bad, but i never drink diet, the sweeteners aren't good for you

Isn't High Fructose Corn Syrup bad for you too?

Most artificial sweeteners are carcinogens.
An ingredient in Frito-Lay's "Baked!" foods is a carcinogen (not sure what ingredient it is though).
Cigarettes contain carcinogens.

I can go on.

Anyway, regular soda is healthier than diet.

I don't even like soda, water is fine for me (and iced tea :3).

Everyone pretty much has it down. Diet anything is starting to show that the artificial sweeteners are really not good for you. However, sugar is really not good for you. Pick your poison. Cancer, or diabetes and weight gain. Just kick the pop habit :P

The diet one has literally poison in it.
The regular one has enormous amounts of sugar.

I don't drink sodas, just two glasses of water before and after every meal.

I do need to correct one misconception about aspartame that no one seems to know. People have been just sheeps to this argument that aspartame is going to kill you in diet sodas. False. There's such a small concentration of aspartame in diet sodas, which is enough to give the desired flavor, that it is not a huge harm to the body. Unless you drink about 24 cans a day, you will not have any negative side effects from diet sodas.

However, I still prefer the taste of regular coke.

Diet does have some funky stuff in it...whatever, cancer can get me when I'm old! hahaha

All diet sodas are bad for you unless they are made with real sugar then they are neither better or worse for you than normal soda.

Regular coke tastes so much better.

I never saw the point of diet, the "help" it gives you is so minimal, I would say it's not even worth it. If the goal is to get healthier, than just cut out soda all together.

Regular Coke gives me stomach cramps, so I like Coke Zero a whole lot better.

Unless you drink about 24 cans a day, you will not have any negative side effects from diet sodas.

I only drink about two cans a week, so no worries here. :)

im going to college to be a chef, so i'll explain what I know.

there is nothing healthy about pop at all. Diet just has fewer calories. Decaf though, that is even worse. pop, coffee, tea, decaf is horrible for you. a lot of times to decaffinate something, they run a bunch of chemicals (i.e. Phormaldahide) through it to "kill" the caffine.

just saying. =)

Diet has aspritame which can cause cancer, but has no calories. So if your trying to lose weight or are on a diet than diet is better, but if not regular is best

I think Soda is terrible for the body no matter if it is diet or regular.
I prefer water and natural fruit juice if i can
and usually only drink soda in mixed beverages with alcohol
thats a pretty rare thing itself for me.

grr I know, seems like they say everythings bad for you for dif reasons, soo confusing . I don't think I buy into all the artificial flavoring stuff is worse for you thing tho. I usually drink diet but just just a few kinds because I don't like the aftertaste sometimes.

Diet is worse. Aspartame, the key sweetner in diet sodas, is made from aspartate. When aspartate is heated, it becomes a carcinogen. A carcinogen is a mutation that causes cancer. Aspartate has been linked to brain cancer in several different cases yet the FDA still allows it to be put into drinks because it takes "abnormally high temperatures to cause this" but in reality, it only has to be 90 degrees. I live in Nevada. That's room temperature here.
