View Full Version : Honorary Titles

Many of the subforums were founded after a member who came up with that subforum's idea. For example a "Countries" forum is being discussed.
There are two factions in VT: Members and the Administrators.
I think an honorary title should be given to the members who come with these new subforum ideas. For example if green light goes for "Countries", the member "DoNotStandUp" ( the member who came with the opinion ) can get an honorary title. It could be a signature picture, or that special "VT Face" regarding to the title or something like that. Or we could at least say "We thank X for bringing up the idea of this forum" in that "Welcome to X Forums!" post.

...I'm confused.
What are you asking?

An honorary title should be given to members who come up with ideas which lead to important foundings in VT ( Like forums for example ). I think it is important that members are creative enough to find new forums. We should be rewarding them

did my suggestion of being able hiding certain forums (in Edit Options) count? :P joking -_-
on the subject of this one, I think this is a good idea. for forum sections, it can be added in the description and/or in the welcome thread.

I can see the usefulness of this. Giving members a chance to be appreciated for bringing ideas forward

I really don't think this is needed to be honest. I just don't think it is worth the effort of implementing.

it isn't that hard to implement.

I don't really see there being much point in this.

I don't really think it would give or take away from anything... not much of a point

I feel like this would only serve to feed those who are hungry for recognition.

I don't think there's any need for this, it certainly wouldn't interest me if I saw a member with such a title.

There is no need people use this site for questions because they are worried or want someone to ask/talk to.
They dont really care who did what. I personally dont think this site is for achivements but for advice

The member who created and funded the current chat room is now banned. So your suggestion doesn't mean anything.

I, personally think this is a nice idea. Members SHOULD get credit for making the site a better place. It's not about 'boasting' or even about catching the interest of Giles.

And give people on here a higher sense of importance that they really shouldn't have in the first place? No.

The person who started them all? Josh, first administrator, came up with most of the forums you see today. A few more were added over time by various administrations.
During my time (Ben and Alex administration) we spearheaded the subforum idea and split them as you see them today (with additional ones being added and subtracted over time).
As for giving people honorary titles etc for coming up with ideas I think is terrible. I always think that here everyone is first and foremost a member - so everyone is equal. It gives people the wrong incentive to improve the site.

I agree, giving someone a title isn't good. I don't think anything is necessary, really. If anything, the only thing I could possibly see implanted is a list. But even a list is pretty pointless. You could always say something in your signature if you really wanted to I would guess? But still.. I dunno.
Who really is gonna pay attention to a list or an extra title? I don't really read them as is. :P
It's a nice idea, I just don't think it's necessary or that it would work, even if it was necessary.

Taking a moment away from the debate id like to ask my own question here,
now imagine my question being asked around a velicoraptor meme please,
if your idea of giving people honorary titles was given the green light, would that mean that you got an honorary title about coming up with honorary titles? ... like .... honorary titleception O.O?
