I often here people say "I hate (insert hated country)!" Countries like Russia, the US, Israel, Iran, etc depending on your politics. But I have a question and I will use Israel as an example but I don't just mean Israel in this thread I mean the countries above too and more if you like those are just examples and I'm not saying I hate them.
When you say: "I hate Israel!" Are you saying you hate the Israeli government or are you saying you hate all Israelis? Do you blame the bad things a country has done on it's citizens too?
My thoughts...
I think it's important when ones says "I hate ..." that one makes a distinction. One doesn't hate the people of that country, one hates the politics and bad men in charge. When one starts hating the people and blaming them for the sins of their leaders one has a problem. The Holocaust happened when the Jews were blamed for all of Germany's problems just because they were successful businessmen and the like. People are always looking for things to hate and that's normal. I am not particularly fond of Israel but I don't hate Israelis. I just hate/dislike the Israeli government for their occupation of Palestinian lands and their mistreatment of Palestinians.
I have Jewish blood about 5 generations back, they were not practicing Jews but they had a Hebrew surname so they came from Jewish roots. So I do not hate the Israeli, I hate the Netanyahus of Israel who will not make peace. It's not the Israelis' fault it's their leaders.
When one stops hating the political establishment and starts hating the Jew one has a problem in my opinion and things like the Holocaust happen.
What are your thoughts about this topic?
This topic is NOT about the Israeli conflict I am just using that as an example. What I want to know is when you as a person say "I hate ...!" Do you hate the Government or the people?
