How do I get "Chat Room" to work?

Hi I am running xp with firefox, and when I click on chat room nothig really happens it just puts me on an empty blue page with "chat room" written at the top left but no means of chatting, is it supposed to open in a new window orr...?

In that case, you'll likely need to install/update Java.
Use the link that DoNotStandUp provided, or if you are a MacOS user, manage it from "Software Update".
