When I go to book my next tattoo (around late January or early February) I'm getting my collarbones pierced (clavicle piercings). Now, I'm not sure if any of you here are piercing experts but I'm wondering would it be better to get clavicle microdermal anchors or an actual surface piercing?

If I remember correctly, the anchors are the bars they put under your skin? If that is so I would advice against that. I have many friends who are into piercings and have told me that the bars almost always get rejected by your skin in as soon as 6 months. If I were you I would go with the surface piercing. Most people around here do that one, it's easier to adjust if something goes wrong and it's not as likely to be rejected by the skin.

My friend went for the surface one, as she got told your body can reject anchor at as little as three months! Love collar bone peircings :D I think it'll look really good on you Marcie!
However I think surface peircings can grow out quite quickly too... Not too sure though :)

Thanks guys :)
Well all I've heard is that surface piercings reject much easier and heal slower than a dermal which is permanent? I'm not sure.

I would go for whatever the piercer suggests as he has the most experience :)
Hope it went okay (if you've had it yet) x

True that :) and unfortunately I couldn't :( I'm going to get them some time after my holiday to Tenerife because you have to wait like so many months until you can go into swimming pools with these piercings, otherwise they get really badly infected D:

I know :( I'm so impatient but I'd rather wait for a while than risk getting a nasty infection with scars D;
And thank you, I shall let you know! :)

I want to get this done as well so I'd be eager to hear how it turns out. I'm probably going to wait for awhile to get mine done.
I've heard though to take a marker and place the dots where you want to get it done then go through all the regular motions you'd do in a day to make sure the dots move as little as possible. If you get them placed correctly, there's less of a chance of them being rejected, especially by constant movement.

I would love to get this done, but.. I don't think my mom would appreciate that :P

I'm sorry, but that just sounds really painful to me.

I would recommend the actual surface bar. Many people come back in after getting a microdermal because its common for the body to reject them. it is often really sore and heals differently also. The skin can actually grow over the whole jewlery and "swallow" it since the piercing is so small and is embedded into the skin, but also happens with bad fitting jewlery on a normal piercing. I would say that it would depend on your healing time and your bodys sensitivity. I would lean more to the surface piercing.
Good luck with your piercing!:)
