Worried about my friend?

We haven't spoken in a while, but earlier he posted a message on my facebook saying "I'm going to miss you", so - naturally - I asked what was wrong.
He keeps saying no-one understands, and no-one cares, and that no-one can help, including me. He keeps saying everything's wrong, not going into any more detail other than to tell me that I'm not "there", that no-one's "there". I asked if he was there but he just told me I didn't understand.
He says that he'll have to change, but he can't do that.
I want to help but I don't know how. Any ideas?

Go to him. If you or anyone you know and trust is in a position to go to him then do so as quickly as possible. He's much more likely to confide in you in person than via the internet. From the way that you've structured and worded your post I assume that you may be concerned about him harming himself; if you think that the risk is significant (you'll have to be the judge of that) then you need to take some more serious and immediate action.
