I cut a flower into my thigh, and I can't explain how beautiful it is. I opted out of deeper cuts, so I could create better curves; less harsh angles. I'm tired of just lines and lines and lines; so lately it's been more of words and images. I also find myself cutting more and more when I am happy, and feeling alright. I just really enjoy the entire ritual of it all.

It might be difficult but you need some help.
You must realise that this is a bad ritual right? It's really not helping you in the long run, what about when people enquire about your curious scars. Self harm is a dangerous habit. You can't want to live like this. I'd really advise seeing your GP and finding out about the help available.

It might seem like a good coping solution, but it isn't. Hurting yourself is not normal and it is not alright. Regardless if it makes you feel better or not. There are other ways to express your depression. If you need our help, we are here and we are more than welcome to assist you. I am very proud of you for admitting that you cut and that cutting gives you some sort of happy satisfaction. Learning from experience, I can tell you that it is not. The sooner you quit the better. It might be hard but you have us to turn to. Whatever is on your mind, let it out and we can discuss it.

I have some scars that are words I cut in a rush, and now I really regret it. It’s a really common habit, but you should talk to someone.
This might seem ridiculous, but if you like the words and drawings, when you feel the urge maybe just draw them or write them on paper. It’s far less destructive and writing stuff down before I cut sometimes got the feelings out and I didn’t need to cut anymore.

I used to do the same thing. Now i always keep a felt pen with me and whenever I feel like I need to injure I just doodle on my arms. Its not the same, it doesn't cause pain, but if you like to cut things into yourself I've found this is a good alternative
If you try this method you might need to find a washable one though. I love to draw on myself and let my friends draw on me but the ink can be a bugger to get off.
