View Full Version : Chest and stomach discomfort when I breathe in?

when I breathe in my heart speeds up, pauses, then has 1 hard beat before slowing down as I exhale. Whenever the hard beat happens, I get a weird feeling in my chest and sometimes my stomach. When it happens I start to panic and it keeps happening until I do something that stops it.

things that stop the weird feeling from happening:
1. movement
2. focusing on something else, not as effective.
3. exercise
4. smoking pot

I have had the pause in my heart beat for as long as I can remember, but I can't remember getting discomfort from it. Now before you say go to the doctor, I already have. I have even been to a cardiologist. But they cannot find a problem, and clogged arteries n' shit are nearly impossible for my age.

A-- they are not nearly impossible for you age, it is calledatherosclerosis for future reference

B-- it may be that since you focus on it so much that you physiologically make it happen, it could be that you also have abnormally active cardiac cells around your Sinoatrial Node (The Pacemaker of the heart)

C--I would suggest you see either a CardioPATHOPHYSIOLOGIST or an ELECTROcardiophysiologist....

I have been to 5 doctors and have had the echo test, blood tests, 5 ekg tests, had my blood pressure checked more than I can count, had an x ray, had many doctors listen to my heart, and even called 911 once for chest pain and tingling in my left arm. They were so convinced I was fine they didn't even take me to the hospital. I just don't get it man.

I did a bit of reading on clogged arteries, they are caused by high cholesterol and high triglycerides, which I don't have because the doc said my blood test was "perfect".

Then you are fine, I can't argue with a trained diagnostician....

I've had a heart issue I was told was perfectly fine after an EKG but it keeps reoccurring. I get times where I'm in tachycardia for a long time before it goes away (meaning my heart just suddenly starts to beat really fast)

I'm agreeing with Dimitri's posts...but I also want to know if you have been smoking pot on a regular basis, or better, how often you smoke pot.

Studies show that one of the immediate effects after smoking pot is an excitatory response from the cardiovascular system meaning increased heart rate, constricted vessels, etc.

I have not smoked in almost a month. I have not just had 1 ekg either, I've had five. And I had a pretty thorough blood test, a chest xray, lots of blood pressure checks, lots of stethescopes, and an echo test.

Have they considered that your breathing may be causing this? Remember that as you breathe in, your lungs expand out and your diaphragm flattens an pushes caudally (towards your tailbone). It may be that you've just been breathing wrong all this time that a muscle is just compressing against the heart or stomach causing this discomfort. The diaphragm itself is a thin muscle that wouldn't really show up on an xray and ekg and echos usually only pertain to the heart and its electro impulses...I may be not making sense at all..but its the only thought Ive got based on whats been said and what the doctors told u...

I have asthma, but they never mentioned my diaphragm.
