I love scares, i think they're really beautiful and i have a few self-made scarifications ( i have a dead tree on my left leg, a flower just above my ankle and a broken heart on my left breast.

so i was thinking, would anyone ever consider a professional scarification? It has become a substitut for tattoos as nearly everyone has a tat and i find it more personal in some way.

So would you get one done?

(Obv i don't SH just to get some scars or some pretty pictures on me)

I am the same way...I have multiple scars formed in symbols on my chest and arms...

I do it myself however and I don't think i'd let someone else do it, somehow when I do it it feels more personal...

Most of the time these symbols stand for things or people or I want to remember, and looking at the scars and remebering the pain keeps me focused...

i wont want to do that! i'm very ashamed of my cuts and don't want anybody to see them! so i dont think that is a great idea because i think most people who cut themselves dont do it for art! if you like it then we all happy for you! :) its a persons personal choice to have these things cut...some people like you like it...others dont! but i dont think it will replace tattoos...but i think a small crowd of people will like it...but i personaly wont :)

I'm sorry I can't agree with this, tattoos are one thing but cutting things into yourself just because you can to look pretty or something.

People genuinely struggle daily with self harm and I think this undermines the issue.

i defiantly see your point, but isn't tattooing just jabbing millions of inky needles into your body just coz you think its pretty...

I think I was misunderstood...

I do self-harm, these scars that are cut as symbols are not meant to be seen by others and I do not show them off...I have other cuts on my hands and arms that are just self-harm...

The point in my carving symbols into myself is to remember a debt I owe to some people who are the reason I am who I am today...They do not take the place of tattoos and are not meant too...

They are a daily reminder to me, and help keep my life focused...

I didn't mean you personally undeyminded the issue of self harm, but you asked if someone would consider doing it professionally, that is what would undermine the issue. And that is what would undermine the entire problem of self harm.
