I'm not so insecure about my tastes in music that I expect everybody else to share them. Who gives a shit if "95%" of "terns" have migrated to pop? Rock isn't dead, rock isn't dying.

Please, keep the YouTube comment spam off of VT. That's really the last thing I want to see here.

some good rock would be band like 30 SECONDS TO MARS ( The Kill is a great one and so is "Kings and Queen", "This is War" and "Closer to the Edge") or Linkin Park ( anything bythese guys really) and My Chemical Romance (once again anything by them). Metal would be Breaking Bengiman (I recomend 'Diary of Jane')

Ummm.....I've heard The 30 Seconds to Mars song Kings and Queens,uh that isn't really rock.I'll have someone else explain Linkin Park.

I, for one, would never recommend these bands as "good".

I find this ironic, because the stuff you listen to is in fact pop for the anti-pop "rebel."

I was waiting for someone to say this. None of the aforementioned is rock. And Linkin Park used to be good. Then they went down the shitter.

The majority of my friends listen to rap. My favorite bands, personally, are Avenged Sevenfold, Sum 41, and Bayside. I believe rap is illiterate and has no sense to it, along with pop and techno, but I do enjoy Skrillex and deadmau5.

Terns these days, eh? We're all being so terny and listening to the music we like. Must be forbidden

I listen to techno because I want to. I don't care what the users of youtube say. This isn't youtube.

Can you please find me the statistics and study where they found out that ninety five percent of teenagers listen to pop and techno? If not, your argument is invalid and useless.

Well that's pretty objective to say, even for someone like me. Why "bring back" the "old rock and metal" when there's still good shit out there? Do you mean like bring back the genres into mainstream, like the more progressive, hard rock, psychedelic stuff? Well, progressive, hard rock, psychedelic rock/metal, it's still there. It's not going anywhere anyhow.

And in terms of metal, thrash does still exist. Of course it's none of this stuff is going to be on the radio/mainstream because we like our simple structured music that sounds exactly the same every fucking song, but you can stop being lazy and actually look for that stuff. It's not hard to find bands in these genre's. Lastfm, rateyourmusic, discogs, check out review sites like metacritic, although I dislike them now because reviewers have become complete dumbfucks from last year and so on.

along with pop and techno, but I do enjoy Skrillex and deadmau5.

Ok, shouldn't that be enough proof that Skrillex and Deadmau5 are such fucking tools and garbage? That someone who says electronic music is senseless, but enjoys the two most overrated electronic artists of all time?

Skrillex, Deadmau5, LMFAO, they're all shit. They make electronic music look like shit. They make people like you think that's what it all sounds like.

And yes, electronic music can be emotional.

Saying something is rock is too vague. Rock has so many subgenres and very little fit into the category of 'Rock'. Rock and metal genres flow into each other. To me, rock ranges from Soft rock all the way down to Sludge/Drone metal. My favourite genres would be Pop/Punk, Post-Hardcore, Metalcore, Punk, and Metal.
