Hey VT, I haven't posted here in a few months, and I thought I'd come to you guys with a question... I'm going to be buying a new phone soon, and I wanted to hear your guys' opinion on which I should get: Android, iOS (iPhone), or Windows Phone 7. I have owned a Droid and an iPhone before, and honestly I liked the Droid more...

It all depends on what you want your phone to do other than be a phone.

At the moment I only have experience of the iOS, and it's terribly laggy at times; and yes, I close the apps to prevent major multiasking. January time, I'm planning to get a Galaxy Nexus, so that'll be my first droid based experience, I'm looking forward to it.
never picked up my fingers right.I'd blame the hardware for that issue, not the software.

Im going to go with the iPhone (ios 5), and besides the fact that I just love Apple, it can do a lot more now with the new os. I actually find the cloud to be usefull with getting my music, pictures, and docs on there, so I can get them on any computer. Another little thing i like is that i loose my phone like ALL the time, so I can easily find it with ios. Apple keeps updating things- so now you can update your phone over a wifi network. You said that you already had an iphone, so I guess you know what your getting into...
As for the Droid, I havent had as much experience, so I dont know too much. I know that the new droid os (or maybe it just the phone itself) came out recently, if not today), I think maybe you should take a look at that, because even for an Apple freak like me, I will admit its pretty cool! Anyways in the end, its just what you like and dont like, and what you use the phone for the most (facebook, texting, calling?)

Top two; Windows Mobile and iOS (especially with Apple's recent improvements!). If the option is there, go with iPhone, if its too pricey go with WM.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I'm thinking of getting the Samsung Galaxy S2. Anyone have that one?
I do also have an iPod Touch (4G), so I still have an iOS device with iOS 5, and it's ok. The main reason why I like Android over iOS is because of the awesome customization options... And that's mostly what I look for in a phone (besides functionality and quality). How's the HTC HD7?

android i believe is the best. I say this because i have had both ios and android devices (never have had windows phone) but i had a ipad and an ipod touch and i had to get rid of both of them because i couldnt stand it. I got rid of my ipad and bought a xoom and now i just use my phone as my mp3 player so i dont need and ipod

I loathe Android, I really do. I can tolerate Windows phones. The software is decent, in my opinion. But I'd choose IOS over them all. I love my iPhone. But I am biased, I must admit...

iOS is only good if it's jailbroken. And even then, Android blows it out of the water. I really despise iOS and Apple's entire attitude towards mobile devices. The limited experience that I've had with Windows phones felt very novelty-ish, as far as features, but not really so practical. I would take a Windows phone over iOS any day, but Android takes the cake.

Android.
Would be perfect if it was less laggy on a lot of HTC phones.

What's laggy on those is the HTC Sense UI; that's HTC's fault, not Google's. It'd be much quicker if it were just stock android, not to mention no pre-installed crapware.

I would go for droid. I like how open it is, and with the new Ice Cream Sandwich these days its gonna rock. I hope you'll be happy with whatever you choose :)

Thanks for all the feedback and input! So I've decided on the iPhone 4S, simply because it's a gorgeous OS and I love my iPad 2, so I can also now use the iCloud with all my devices (iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone). Thank you guys again for all the suggestions. This is the reason I come to VT with my questions.

I used to think that iPhones weren't all that great, because they didn't have a full physical keyboard like most Androids do. I now (after having an iPod touch for a while) that iPhones are AMAZING!! The only thing you should remember is, after a few days of using most Apple devices they need to be turned off and turned back on. Androids on the other hand do not normally not have to be 'reset' but they also have a slightly slower operating system. Windows phones I don't know very much about, except you can do anywhere near as much stuff as you can on iPhone or Android. I personally would not get a Windows phone, but just my opinion. Hope all of this info helps ease your decision. (=

My opinions:
Windows - NEVER
iOS - nicely refined but limited, and personally I can't justify the price difference compared to Android
Android - Not as refined as iOS but more flexible if you want to do anything non-standard
My choice is always Android, but have seen bugs here and there that you might not get on the others. But at least with Android (like all Linux flavours) you're in control and you have more freedom.
Since someone mentioned Samsung... awesome phones but they really need to work on battery life!!!

Android is probably the worst piece of garbage. Not only is the OS bloated and useless (if you don't root it / install a custom rom most phones are close to useless), but the market is so fragmented that no matter what phone you buy, you never know if any / all apps will work at all or not.
To add on top of that, the google play store is garbage too with no certification process whatsoever. Time and time again, malware keeps popping up in their marketplace.
Windows Phone 8 is already out, and they have Nokia on board. Their phones are amazing, and the software is pretty good too. They have Xbox LIVE access (a lot of games with achievements there) as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote) so they the best for on-the-go school stuff too.

This site doesn't require flash. That's why almost all phones with a browser can post a comment.

Personally, I would say iOS. I've found iPhones to be faster and more reliable than any other phone I've owned. For example, I see more lag in a quad-core phone with 1GB of RAM running Android than I see on an older iOS device with a single core and 0.5GB of RAM. (The two phones costed the same too :P)
If you find yourself feeling jealous over the few extra features Android has, you can jailbreak your iPhone to get the same features if you wanted.

I'm a Blackberry fan but of course no one ever considers blackberry. Out of the 3 I'd go windows 8 if not android.

I am really not an iOS fan. It is oversimplified, with a lack of customization and i feel like iPhones are very unoriginal, as they are all almost virtually the same.
I'm an android guy. I love customiaztion, and the customization possibilities with android are endless, and i'm never bored with it.
I wouldn't mind owning a Windows phone. I had the HTC HD7 and it was a nice phone, but they need more apps.

Android or Windows Phone EVERY time. Apple may have made a big market in phones, but they are being eaten by their own monster!
(Blackberry doesn't interest me, but Ubuntu phone and silverfish look great :)

Well, I despise the Windows phone, don't get it.
iOS is easy to jailbreak but then it's annoying because well...it's just annoying and the OS is weak and you can't customize or anything.
Which leaves Android. You should definitely get an Android phone because you can customize it, you can mod it because it's all open source, it's just great. But the only problem with Android, is that it's really annoying to root it but it's possible, it just takes forever. Also, unlike UDID in iOS, if you get banned on an Android phone from apps for rooting/jailbreaking, it takes forver to change the ID number for you to become unbanned.
However, Android is also good because you can code your own apps. Android is Java based so if you know Java, you can code Java applets which is really fun.
