I think there's a problem with the way police are allowed to enforce the law. To me, I think it's screwed up that police can't do anything until a crime has been commited. So basically someone has to be shot, killed, mugged, or abused before an arrest can be made. I'm not sure who to blame for the screwed up system.t's not the officers faults, they're just doing their jobs. I just think there's some way we can stop crime before a crime has been commited. I don't know... does anybody have any thoughts.

That is why we have them, you see without someone there to enforce the laws which is the function of the judiciary branch then mass chaos would ensue and you could be, well, dead....

Okay, so it might be because too many people are cowards and will not report the crimes because they don't want their ass on the line because so many people have warrants or tickets that they thought "Ohhh, I am not going to show up for my hearing so I would rather run from the law and become a criminal myself...."
I'm not sure who to blame for the screwed up system.t's not the officers faults, they're just doing their jobs.
You just stated above that you think it is screwed up because the police cannot do anything because someone needs killed, shot.......etc.
I just think there's some way we can stop crime before a crime has been commited. I don't know... does anybody have any thoughts.
Without probable cause then it is illegal and we would have even more people who think, "manna, he be ignant and fringe on meh rights...."

You would prefer that cops be able to unjustly affect the lives of innocent people? Possibly punishing them for crimes they MIGHT commit. You can't see where there might be a problem with that?
I'm not sure who to blame for the screwed up system.
The system isn't screwed up, at least not in the way you're proposing it is.
I just think there's some way we can stop crime before a crime has been commited.
Well there isn't.

I agree. It's not minority report. But in my province police are fucked. The laws too. Legal limit for drinking is .08 BAC but if you're caught with .05 you get sent to jail for the night, you get a fine, a tow and impound and after jumping through all the loops it'll cost on average $5000 to get your car back. All without the approval of a judge. Also it's near impossible to challenge the results of your reading.
I think when it comes to police we need more lawsuits whenever they mess up bad. Same goes for the whole justice system.

I think we need to get rid of so-called "drug-crimes". If you are pulled over and you have a gun and a ski mask in your trunk, no one will stop you (assuming the gun is legal). A police officer cannot arrest you for having a penis (hey, it's an accessory necessary for rape, right?), an officer cannot arrest you for having plans of a bank, a few guns, ski masks and a police scanner. These are all evidence of "intent". But if an officer stops you and finds an ounce of weed, a bag of ecstasy pills, a sheet of acid, an ounce of cocaine or heroin, you are immediately charged with "Drug Possession with Intent to Distribute". What the hell is going on here?
Also look at the news. Many law enforcement officials are simply out of line these days. There was a story recently where an officer was caught trading meth for sex with a man. He was imprisoned in a jail named after him. He was released on reduced bail for "service to the public", but further digging reveals a history of complaints, intimidation and arrest of addicts. Despite that, the government decided to let him go just because he was a member of law enforcement. There is something wrong with our system. The Drug War has destroyed the image of law enforcement.
End it.
