As I understand it, a subarachnoid hemmorhage is a weakening of blood capillaries in the brain, making it significantly more likely for an aneurysm to occur.
My mother suffered an aneurysm as a result of a subarachnoid hemmorhange weeks before I was born - it almost killed her. Her aunt had one before her.
Is it likely that I could have inherited it, and if so, is it worth going for a scan to check?
Conflicing info says that there's a 17% chance of being passed through direct relatives, or no chance at all.
Am confused. :whoops:

To be honest the best person to talk to would be your GP. He/She will be able to look at your family history in depth, and go into details that people on here wouldn't be able to. Everyone is different, so it is very hard to say if you are going to inherit something or not.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage is bleeding in the area between the brain and the thin tissues that cover the brain. This area is called the subarachnoid space.

I am sorry to hear that....

Here is an amazing resource that you can use (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000701.htm)....

You have all rights to be confused, but please, talk to your parents and see what can be done. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me.

Haha again Dimitri you and I are gonna be tagteam doctors in the future. I'll agree that there is always that chance that the condition may be passed due to unfortunate genes. I'll also agree that talking to your GP would be a good idea in the future. I wouldn't worry about it too much now because you are still young.
