I'm not sure if this has to do with hormones or anything but like, sometimes I'll just slow down, and things will get really slow and blurry, and everything gets dark... it's really weird, and hard to explain. The slowness of everything is really what scares me though. It only lasts for about 7 seconds or so, and then I'm back to normal, I feel rejuvinated, so to speak. This doesn't happen too often, but often enough for me to notice it, probably once a week or so.

So does this have to do with my hormones? Or is this some other strange thing?

this kinda happens to me. like sometimes I would get up from where im sitting and all the sudden everything gets blurry and kinda dark and I feel like im going to faint. other times I just feel like as if im going to faint and I feel my shutting . I guess this has to do with how much you sleep. if you dont sleep a lot then this is why it might happens. I dont get a lot of sleep

YOU NEED TO SEE A PHYSICIAN NOW, as a medical practitioner it is in my opinion for you to do so and by first telling your parents!!!!

This is called orthostatic hypotension, it is caused by a large drop in your blood pressure, I would suggest you let your physician know about this, just give them a call.

Holy shit, I thought I was the only one. I know this thread is old, but I haven't been on here in over a year. I get this same thing every once and while and it is so weird. It always happens when I stand up, from sitting, or jog from walking.

I sometimes get blurry vision when I've stood up - standing or sitting up to fast can do it. But if it's happening for no apparent reason, go to a doctor asap!

Let us know how it goes :)

Are you sleeping at least 5-6 hours a night? I can get tiny tiny 10 second black outs when im up all night studying, you may need more sleep. if not...
are you experimenting with recreational or prescription medication? Some drugs and alcohol can cause this. If your not experimenting with any drugs, than your most likely experiencing what is known as a "vasovagal episode." This is a random, UNSAFE, drop in blood pressure, resulting in you feeling light headed. Its like someone putting you in a choke hold, or swimming underwater for too long without a breath. Your brain is not getting enough oxygen, so it has to tell certain parts of your body to shut down to conserve the oxygen you have. You could feel faint, loose sight, loose hearing, pass out ect. This is COULD BE very serious and you should try to see your doctor as soon as possible.

Yeah, because that is completely normal, yeah, nothing to worry about at all....

No offense but for someone who's named smart kid you are not that smart, I am speaking from the observant point of a medical worker.

Yes it's kind of like that... sometimes when I just get upstairs from fastly going up the steps, ect. It doesn't happen when I'm just sitting down.

How does this happening once a month, make me have to go to the doctor?

I just go to the doctor, they ask whats wrong? And I say, Oh a few weeks ago I had a blackout... what would they do about that...

And don't question whether or not I'm smart, I'm likely smarter than you, top of my class for your information

loll i cant say Dimitri is a neurologist, but i kinda agree with him. You should talk to a doctor because this can be kinda dangerous. Not sure how old u are and where you live and stuff, but if u start driving alone at 16 in the US u may have a black out doing 80 on a highway, and even 2 seconds out can get you killed. Im not you, Im not in your family, but i, as a poster on the internet, recommend that your see a neurologist (brain doctor) to just talk about this. Like i said, it may be nothing, but it could be life threatening if it happens in a bad time...

It sounds like its just a simple result of a drop in blood pressure. Standing up quickly after sitting for an extended period, or exerting yourself a good deal after just relaxing for a while can cause it. The result if a decrease in eyesight, muffled hearing, possible fainting, or loss of balance. Its no big deal unless it happens out of nowhere. Otherwise, I suggest trying to stand slowly, and work yourself up to straining tasks, as in, don't run up 3 flights of stairs after sitting in a chair for an hour and a half.

Dimitri is right to advize you to go to your doctor. You came on here worried about a medical issue. If you are worried about a medical issue, what should you do? Yeah, that's right... Go and see your doctor.
You said you'd blackout out more than 'once last month', hasn't this been happening for a while? And the symptoms you described seem more than those cause from standing up too quickly.

As for being top of your class, my cousin is in year 2 (7 years old) and she is top of her class; I'm still smarter than her, though. (I hope you're catching my drift.) When people offer you help from a more informed point of view, don't throw it back in their faces.

Well, also not to mention, considering your age, you might be driving soon and all we need is a jerk on the road, driving around and then passing out. You pass out will driving and then kill a few people....

Kill a few people Vs. Go see the doctor

The choice is yours to make....

The problem seems to be in your eyes, if you meant visual blackout, or in the brain.

I agree with Psychintraining, "You NEED to see your doctor."

Same thing happpens to me... went to the doctor. He said that it was from a drop in blood pressure from standing too quickly after being in a curled position such as indian style or fetal. He said that it is normal for guys in their teens to have this problem due to our hormones being out of whack from puberty. I have passed out once, but he said to get up slowly and if possible sit in a upright position for at least 20 seconds then get up :) Hope this helps!

This happens to me from time to time.... and futbolmaster94.. it doesn't have anything to do with sleep.. it has to do with how much exercise and also how much you move (e.g. if you lay in bed all day and get up, you get that "blackout" thing... that is because when you get up, you might have gotten up to fast for your body to balance itself out. That's what causes your "blackouts"... it happens to me a lot from time to time... hope this helped

This happens to me, with ADHD my mind at times runs so fast that it feels like time around me is slowing down, but yet i feel normal. this will slow down pregressivly. and i'll feel as if 5-10 mins passed but it was only 2 seconds. i wonder if my minds just running so fast time slows around me. :/

When I went to my doctor yesterday for a strep throat test I mentioned it, and she said she has had a few patients before with the same issue. She said as long as these "little episodes" are just a result of standing up from prolonged sitting, and these are short and dont occur too often that it this is very minor. She said just to realize that they can occur anytime, but just get up slowly from being seated, and when it happens sit back down until it goes away

Listen, and listen good. You need to see a doctor. This sounds like you are having seizures and could very possibly have epilepsy, a very dangerous brain disease. My cousin has it and she is getting help, but before, she got them more and more often. This is a serious problem that NEEDS to be addressed or you could die while driving, or doing something that if you black out during could be harmful.

you may have a Pituitary gland hyposecrtion it has a VERY important hormone. Just see a DOCTOR NOW
