I often seem to have these. I've had 3 or 4 this year alone. And they are really scary...
does anyone have any adivce on how to try and calm yourself down when you know you're about to have one?
thanks

What exactly goes on in your mind when you are panicking? Does a certain thing evoke these panic attacks?

Well they are usually about big things in my life...break-up, school, family, and the hospital.
I already take anti-sicotic medication and anti-depressants, but nothing really helps these.
What goes through my mind?
I start to just freakout, like I stop thinking and start to hyperventalate, I usually pass out like I did today.
They happen often enough that I could use some advice.

ive been having panic attacks for a couple of years now...and the only thing i can tell you is that you should completly stop and take really deep breaths...srry i know thats not much help...but there's not much you can do about it...have you seen a docter yet? The docters can tell you all kinds of ways to keep calm...though they never did work for me...they obviously work for some people!

Hmm, I'm not sure what to say. Maybe you should talk to a doctor to see if you can get some meds to help this.

I to get panic attacks, and the best thing to do to get through them is bring in through your nose and out through your mouth.
for a few minutes. and then break down what you are panicking about.
for instance
a thought like this will cross my mind" my friend doesn't seem very happy right now"
and that will lead to
"maybe its because he doesn't like me"
and so on
you have to learn to nip it in the butt when it first starts.
so it would be
"my friend doesn't like me"
correct it
"we've been friends for 5 years now and he calls me and we hang out everyday, he likes me"
it all has to do with the fight or flight scheme.
anyway just a couple ideas that work for me pm me if you wanna talk more

Ask someone that really cares about you to talk you through them.It helps to have a support system and someone explaining how much they care about you and just plain being there for you can be really soothing.Someone that you could call at 3 in the morning and they'd be there for you.

I understand too what they're like .. and my panic level has skyrocketed recently (at least that I have noticed) .. but what works for me is to either let myself go through it to the point where my body just cannot take it anymore and collapses into exhaustion so I just end up sleeping ... I have called (but rarely) one or two very close people to me and they talked me through it ... or I am WITH one of those two or so individuals when my body sort of feels safe to lose control (seriously, wtf) ...
I dunno just what works for me ... I hope you feel better though ... panic attacks absolutely suck:( ...

i have them too, i got them so bad and so often i went to the doctor to get help. he gave me meds but i only take them when i get a really bad one.
maybe if yours are pretty bad you could go and get help, i found they really work.
also you should go to a consolor and they'll try to help you. i did everything i could think of. go on google and serch it up and maybe theres things to help you.

I'm seventeen and have had panic attacks for a few years now...usually they're either brought on by stress (especially school and my adoptive father...long story) or sensory reasons (like a lot of noise). I start to hyperventilate and have to leave the situation and sit somewhere quiet and just wait it out...I'm on Klonopin for anxiety, but it doesn't always help. At school, whenever we have Pep Rallys, I can't go because the noise sets me off and if a classroom gets really roudy or the lesson is too difficult for me to understand, I have to leave as well. Sometimes I just sit outside the classroom, but most of the time I go to the nurse or the guidance office...
