One of my friends(whom I like)started talking to me on facebook the other day.We talked for hours and I asked what kind of music she liked and stuff like that.Then she asked why I was asking her all that and if i asked that stuff because I liked her.I said no like an idiot and i really like her and dont know what to do now.

Honesty is the best policy. Don't go overboard, though. Start off slow, and don't go straight to the big things.

hmm that must have been awkward. make sure she wasn't offended because some girls think that if the answer is "no" to this question then they start thinking you don't think she's pretty etc.
anyway don't rush and say that you like her. it won't sound honest.
just try to maintain the chat further and then you can tell her.
