i haven't cut in a while. but i see the scars everytime i shower all over my wrists. or when it's really cold outside. it's winter, and i cant help but notice the thin lines appearing.
does this happen to anyone else?

I DO NOT self-harm. I am here to help
This may be because of scarring. The way you scar could cause nearby skin to wrinkle

my wrists haven't wrinkled at all, that's not it. it just turns a darker color then my skin. sometimes a purple red tint.

It could possibly be an infection...

dont worry the same thing happens to me my scars are usually a light purplish pink but when I take a warm shower or whenever im cold they get really bright red I think it has somthing to do with your blood vessels expanding from the temperature or somthing along those lines but its normal

thanks. yeah, its not an infection. they aren't open wounds, and they're not irritated or painful.

Yea mine do it too, im naturally very pale and my scars go deep purple in the winter. But i'm kinda odd coz i absolutly love my scares, i adore them. To me their badges of honnor, look what you did and where you were, but look where you are now kinda thing, if that makes sence. Maybe if you change what the scars mean to you they wont bother you as much :)

Some of mine have faded completely, but the deeper ones still remain, even though It's been months since those cuts.

For me they appear more when it's warm. I like to let my scars be a marker of how far I've become. It helps so that they don't repulse you so much or make you want to cut again/

Its completly normal for scars to turn purple when its cold, i'm sure there is some scientific explanation for it but I see it as a fact. Dont be ashamed of it, a good doctor helped me come to terms with mine. He was black but had a skin condition that meant he had white skin patches all over his body, he always joked about being a cow and stuff. I admired him for comming to terms with it as its not something he could cover up completly.
I think if you can do the same as that doc and myself, to accept that scars will always be there no matter how hard you try to get rid of them. They are a part of who you are and tell a story of your life. You dont need to be proud of what you have done but you dont have to be ashamed either.
