Regardless of being fun or not, WoW still boasts over ten million players, and we'll only be seeing more of it until it ceases to be profitable for Blizzard to maintain the server technology.

A lot of my friends used to play WoW, now they say it's not so fun anymore, it's actually boring.
They are waiting for the new Star Wars game

I think that when Blizzard lost those one million members - especially after an expansion pack that has NOT gone over well review wise - that shows what people are starting to think. It still has a very large user base though; not many MMORPGs can boast over 10 million unique users. Eventually, Blizzard will come to the point where they'll have to question how much further they can push their servers on the current technology. It might be a smart move to make WoW for consoles, which could drastically affect subscriber numbers.

They are moving on WoW, StarCraft and Diablo for years, wouldn't it also be better if they came up with a new idea for an MMO?

In business terms, no, it doesn't work like that. If you're successful with three games that are projecting to be successful for years to come, there's no use in new intellectual property. Once the subscriber base starts to diminish drastically for WoW (going down a few hundred thousand every month for over a year), then the time will come when a new IP can be brought up.
Companies take a risk whenever they make a new IP. There's no telling if it'll bring in more money or if it will cost more to put out. You can't take a risk like that without assessing the potential damage it can cause.

I've personally never played but I used to have a fair few friends that did. The majority have since said that it became mundane for a while and that the new Panda stuff is too stupid to be taken and played seriously.

i think it's loosing it's edge. the expense tends to get annoying after a while, when other games are a buy once or a free deal.

Nowadays I get sucked in and play constantly for about three days and ignore it to the point my guild decides to drop me then pick it back up when the next patch hits... I don't want to drop it because I just got a huge bounty from my father who decided to swap to Eve Online shortly after hitting 85 on his main and he had just stacks and stacks of mats (he's been playing since the original beta. o.O I started sometime before BC) and a nice sum of gold. So part of me wants to play, but it just gets... mundane after a while. And the grinding for gear becomes a chore. At 85 when you're just slightly too undergeared for Firelands and guildless there's not much of a variety of things to do between gearing your char.
I'm way more into Diablo than I am WoW. I like the story much better. The idea of a war between heaven and hell has always been intriguing to me, and Diablo was a huge childhood memory of mine (yes, my dad actually introduced me to that game when I was eight or so. I wasn't too good at it back then though). Diablo III seems to have a more interesting online aspect. I never really got into playing Diablo II online. I do hope that they'll work on developing that franchise a bit more instead. Even if it'll be nothing like the first game, I still prefer the story a thousand times more than the WoW folklore. Not that it's bad, it's just so expansive and detailed. That's what made LotR so good but so painful at the same time for me. I had to read/watch the books/films a couple times through to have it all down. Diablo doesn't lack story, but you pretty much get all the information down the first or second time you play through the games.
