So I was wondering if there is some fine line between when cutting becomes too much. I have about 30 cuts on my thigh that aren't shallow but aren't deep. My desire to cut is still very strong....so when does it become too much?

If you're asking when you need help, i'd say as soon as you begin cutting. It takes a lot of mental pain to take that blade to yourself the first time, and that is what needs help.
Cutting in it's self isn't what I really see as the problem, it's the fact you're in enough pain to do that, whether that's been the case for a few weeks, or a few years. The depth or amount of cuts is not indicative of the mental pain you're going through, and any amount needs help.

I wouldnt call it a fine line, its a pretty big one actually. There is cutting and then there is not cutting. Some people may cut once or twice and get over it, they may never cut again. Others may get hooked on it and every time they cut they cause more damage, craving to go deeper and further than before.
In my oppinion as soon as you start to cut you should seek help, even if it is a form of self help. This is something I always suggest but it is a good cure for some. Try and distract yourself, draw, write, read, listen to music really loud, watch a film, scream into a pillow or punch the crap out of one for all I care.
Its all about finding something that is a healthy way of coping. But in answer to your question, it sounds like what your doing now is too much.

When you can no longer go without it. When it's all you think about and it begins to take over your life.
