You do not get banned for bad reputation, rep is given by other users, give good advice and your rep might increase

You have two choices:

1. Suck it up & put up with it. It's literally people's opinions of your posts. Not every post, but if they like it, they might +rep you and if you say something stupid or mean at someone, they'll most likely -rep you.
2. Disable rep all together. If you don't like the rep you're getting, disable it. Simple. Then user's can't rep you.

Also, just for the record, many users HATE threads about rep, as they're often user's trying to feel sorry for themselves, and wanting more rep, as I can see this one being taken, or complaining about stupid rep.

If you don't like rep, disable it. If you want more rep, make good, quality posts. Simple.

Wow, this is the second time today that someone has brought it up.

Rep is simply a measure of how much people agree with you, for the most part.
Whining about it only makes people want to -rep you more, because nobody likes complainers.

For more information, use this informative link: http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/search.php?forumchoice[]=10&query=reputation&do=process

You don't get banned because of negative rep.

And I will put here what I placed on your wall:

No, I am not mean I am logical and analytical. This place is called a community for a reason, if you do not have anything to say nice do not say it at all, we come here to ask and help one another. When you post a comment like this (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1517850&postcount=3) and use terms such as "homo" it can be offensive, if you are interested in Psychology I would suggest you study the theory of perception and self-actualization and apply it in this instance.

I will admit that I came off a little cross but being bisexual and an avid practitioner of Psychology I thought your comment to be demeaning and un-needed. I do not give negative reputation unless it is deserved and I thought it was in that situation, if you have a problem please feel free to take it up with Ronnie (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/member.php?u=19064) or David (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/member.php?u=8075) our site Administrators and they will make a decision on this matter. Have a nice day.

If you feel that you need to contact me about this please feel free to do so. Have a nice day.

There was a spammer who posted several spam threads late last night or so. I replied to all of them with senseless rambling. Was just being funny. I got a kick out of it. Figured anyone else who read it would too.

Someone (I don't know who because "repping" can be anonymous, which is a bit silly, in my opinion) negative repped me, saying "don't you this is a spammer?"

So not only was their sentence incorrect, but their reason for negative repping me to begin with was touchy. I posted something funny, poking fun at the spammer thread. Of course I know it was a spammer; that would be obvious to anyone who actually read my posts because I said nonsense things that had nothing to do with the OP.

So someone was apparently ultra-touchy about me saying funny things to a spammer, and they negative repped me, but didn't even type a full sentence in doing so.

The whole thing is silly. So if you don't like it, disable it. But, really, it depends what you're getting negative repped for. The two negative reps I've received were for nonsense things. One person did not like that I was a masochist (they literally said "you have issues" and negative repped me - anonymously, of course. Not a very nice thing to say in a forum where people come precisely because they HAVE issues and are trying to make progress), and the second one I got today was also anonymous, and equally absurd.

So it's easy for me to shrug such negativity off because the complaints were petty and anonymous. I get the feeling a mod was the one who negative repped me today, perhaps due to some policy about replying to spam threads. But then why not just send me a private message, asking me not to reply to spammers? That way I know who is making the complaint and what I can do to resolve it. But if someone anonymously negative reps me with bad grammar because I was having fun, then who cares? Obviously, however, if you're receiving lots of negative rep then it is probably a sign that you are doing something wrong.

You replied to one my comments in a thread earlier today and, to be honest, you sounded a bit like a dick. I didn't negative rep you cuz I never do that to anyone. It's hard to tell what people's intentions are online, so maybe people think you sound like a dick in other threads and are negative repping you even though you don't mean it? Just a thought.

OP: -rep will not get you banned - it has no impact on the way we moderate the site. If you want more rep, post well. That's all there is to it.

jacknife,

It was not a moderator that -repped you. Please do not make comments like that without knowing; it is indeed procedure for all moderators to PM users if they have broken a rule.

Of course; that makes sense. Apologies.

Was only trying to convince the OP that people often negative rep for silly reasons, and so maybe he should stop worrying about it.

Thanks for the info.
