I'm looking around for some gay movies. More specifically I'm looking for some coming of age movies where young people realize their true sexuality and experience their first love and the conflicts that arise from it. I just "acquired" one called Beautiful Thing and it's supposed to have some really adorable scenes in it. Do you have any good suggestions?

'Dare' is a good film, its not specifically a gay movie but it has gay elements within it and it is really interesting.

Boys dont Cry, its really depressing though
theres one in theaters now called Tomboy which is supposed to be exactly what youre talking about, but its open in one theater in the entire five boroughs of New York and its in french, so idk if thats what youre looking for
also, i really like this movie called Water Lillies, this is about teenage lesbians though, im not sure if youre looking specifically for boys, but this is a really good film i thought.

I just watched one on Netflix called Shank. It's EXACTLY what you're looking for.

Thanks for the suggestions, I watched Beautiful Thing last night and was surprised because it's a really good movie, i'd never heard of it before

"Get Real" and "Edge of Seventeen" are awesome movies. Also "Mysterious Skin" is great but kinda dark.

Prayers for Bobby is such an amazing movie, but it will make you cry for hours.

On a more light-hearted note, there's this interesting one called Were the World Mine. It's sort of silly at points, but it's a good movie.

Also "Mysterious Skin" is great but kinda dark.

I wouldn't consider Mysterious Skin a gay movie, even if it's about gay people and contains male prostitution.

I'd say Shortbus unless you consider that porn too.

I haven't personally seen it but I've heard fantastic things about Shank.

Yeah I don't think this is a coming out story per se, more of a be comfortable with who you are and don't be afraid to let go kinda film.
It is a bit porny though.

I would highly recommend "You Are Not Alone" IT IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE!

Apparently, Weekend is pretty good, and recent, it's still showing in some theatres.
