Ok well for starters, unless your friend is a trained psycotherapist, I wouldn't put too much stock in what she had to say.
Mental breakdowns are not easy to diagnose or predict. If they were, doctors probably would be trying to come up with some sort of cure or prevention. The reason is that everyone's brain is different, and people deal with situations in different ways. When my mother had a mental breakdown, she was suicidally depressed for a while but then got better. When my father had his second mental breakdown it completely changed his entire personality and it never went back. No one knows how things like that will manifest.
Secondly, if you went on a medical website and read the list of symptoms, you could probably diagnose yourself with having anything and everything from Swine Flu to West Nile Fever. That's why it's best not to read these kind of websites as you often end up scaring yourself rather than coming up with anything useful!
If you are concerned about your mental health and wellbeing, then you need to talk to your GP about being referred to a therapist. Often just talking about what is wrong can help, but as they are well trained, if they think you need more serious action or medication, they will be able to tell you what to do.
Try not to be too concerned about what may well be nothing but I do suggest at least mentioning it to your GP
