probably muscus. maybe its flu season where you live? but your voice is probably changing which contributes, but, its more than likely the flu

Moving to VT General Hospital

And in regard to your question, I'm not really sure.. the best advice I can give on this is to talk to your doctor about it.

Habit? Mucus? Thinking about doing it?

Could be alot of things,m you could be developing a cold or a sore throat. No one can say over VT with that one symptom - if you are concerned seek advice from your GP :)

Could not agree more but if you are a singer you need to stop, I tell all my vocal students to not clear your throat, if you have to you need to cough instead. Clearing your throat causes your vocal cords to basically bash against each other instead of staying in sink.

Try eating lots of sour grannysmith apples (bright green ones) and using a neti pot saline rinse. It won't totally rid you of symptoms but will help a little.

Hmm, well this is how my throat trouble started. I got an excess of mucus I couldn't get rid of normally for some reason so it built up and I got sick more often. You'd best see your doctor cause he's really the only one that could properly help you. In the mean time keep getting rid of it. Chances are if its been happening for a year non stop it could be the same thing I have. You can't really get rid of it but theres stuff you can do to keep the mucus from building up and stuff.
