I recently bought my girlfriend an engagement ring while on vacation. I have been with her for over two years and have already given her a promise ring thus making us "inseparable". I believe it is time to take our relationship to a higher level. Both my girlfriend and I are 18. I plan to have a very long engagement with my beautiful lady:) I have a date set to propose, April 26, 2012. I want to know if this date is okay. I have heard that I should move it up. What do you think?

I think if you're both happy with the way the relationship is going then go for it. At the end of the day its up to you what you do and when you do it. If you think you're ready then you should try, at the end of the day if its too soon your girlfriend would let you know anyway. :) Good luck dude.

personally I don't believe in getting engaged or married so early, you've barely seen the world, or lived life who knows where you'll be i'm just a few years you could be completely different people. I don't doubt for one minute you love her but you might not realise what spending your life with someone entails. Realistically in the long run you might not work out.
I know a girl of 16, which admittedly is younger than you, but she's engaged to her boyfriend and has been cheating on him.
But this is purely my opinion at the end of the day if you want to purpose do it, its your life.

I think that that date is fine. If you're both happy in the relationship then go for it. As Aaron said, if she doesn't want it to happen she'll tell you. :)

Thanks to all that replied :) I'm honored that a mod and a global mod both responded! I took my girl to a jeweler and she fell in love with the simplest ring. She still doesn't know I'm going to ask her though!
