opinions on red/dark lipstick

I love love red and dark lipstick but some people think it looks trashy or slutty if a teen wears it. I am 16 and I have been wearing it since I was 15, what are everyones opinions on it?

Lip stick looks fabulous, if it suits you. I don't like to determine if I think people are trashy by clothing, more on the way they act. You could be wearing pumps and a corset, and I wouldn't think you were a whore, unless you acted like one!

It all depends on what your wearing I think. Red for me would either be to match an outfit or show that your in some romantic mood or wanting to be sexy. Dark color is more of a statement and tells people not to mess with you, is what I think. Ha. XD
I personally think the best thing to do is match colors, but eh... I'm a girl at heart.

It all depends on your complexion and facial structure. If you're super pale and don't have visible cheek bones it's going to look quite awkward. Though, in instances where you have high cheek bones, fair skin, and dark hair it can look quite stunning.

I would say that it isn't an every day thing. Such as for school and work (unless it's a business attire job). I would advise against darker reds and purples though as those do tend to give the idea of being a bit trashy unless worn with a very suiting outfit.

It also depends on the rest of your make up as well. You don't want all the attention on your face drawn to simply your lips. Frankly, I wouldn't wear it unless your doing foundation and powder as well.

I wear dark lipstick quite a lot. As others have said it's what you wear it with, and what other make up you wear it with that makes it look "trashy". I really like it on some people, and from your profile pics I can tell it really suits you without looking trashy :P

it all depends on your facial features, skin type and color, and hair type and color. some people can pull it off really well. i don't see how it is trashy. if you can pull it off, by all means, do so.

Lipstick is awesome. I think anyone who sees it as trashy either has low self-esteem or too high standards. By all means, wear all the lipstick you want.

It depends on the person. On someone it looks great, on another person awful. If you think it looks good then use it.

Yeah, it depends on the person wearing it. I would NEVER go for red for myself, but it looks absolutely stunning on my girlfriend. Well. I don't think ANY lipstick looks good on me. At the most, a bit of lip gloss. Usually nothing.
