I lost quite a lot of weight, I just started going for more walks and bike rides. I'd just put music on my iPod and go for a nice walk each day. Also, I cut out eating between meals. That really helps. At first, it's hard, but after the first week of no snacks, you'll be so used to it and any craving for snacks will pretty much disappear.
Good luck! :)

Well you'll either have to put up with being overweight and unhappy with yourself, or putting in some work to change. It's up to you.

I've never been teased about my weight because my friends and family realize it would be really mean. I do feel uncomfortable walking around shirtless like some of my friends can. If you lose some weight, it should get better. Until then, just keep a positive attitude

I try to keep a positive attitude, but it seems hard enough that my own family teases. Its hard.

The growth spurt thing will either slim you down a bit or make you even bigger.
You should lessen your food intake a little at a time so you won't feel like your on a diet. And increase your physical activities.

I think you should definitely try to lose the weight but don't let the people talking to you get you down!

I am overweight and some of my friends tease me about it.. but I just ignore it, and the end of the day.. you are who you are and you've got to accept that, nobody is perfect.. and no, i don't feel comfortable being nude/topless around people... not because i'm fat (doesn't bother me) but because I have lots of strech marks

I used to be very overweight and much like you I was constantly teased by people I knew, my family in particular, but honestly I used that as motivation to lose the weight. Try not to let what they say get to you and just get rid of the excess, eat less crap and exercise more - cliché for a reason.
Not to sound rude but, from what I understand of the American weight system, you should try to set your long term goal to a lot higher than 30lbs.

Well, bro I know what you go through. I'm 13, and Six foot but, I weigh in at 230. It sucks to go shirtless, even with a shirt I'm uncomfortable. People are always cracking jokes (I.E It Jiggles! It being me.) but, people are realizing what a lot of my weight is, is actually muscle. Otherwise, I'm trying to loose weight but, I just have had such bad habits. When you have a bad habit it's heard to break. Take it from the guy who said he want's to lose weight but has two plates, four empty Dr. Pepper cans, and three candy wrappers sitting right next to him. It's hard as hell.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. Family and friends shouldn't be making fun of you. They need to be supporting you and encouraging you to get in shape. You need to make changes now so you don't end up overweight and sick when you get older. You could have diabetes and heart problems in your 20s if you don't fix this now. Everyone gets hung up on the looks part but more important is getting and staying healthy.
Exercising and eating right sucks but its the only way. Do you have a coach at school that could help you with an exercise and eating plan? It won't take much if you start now and work hard but if you keep gaining weight its only going to get harder to fix.
Good luck!

actually when i was younger i was put on a medicine that gave me large weight gain i delt with being teased it was hell but i did something about it my parents refuse for me to be a "stick" since they want me to play football and so do I, i love sports but also were still growing and it can stretch out that happened to me as well but heres my method for being healthy. work out at least 3 times a week for at least 20 minutes *for some this could just be walking but i prefer jogging* NEVER eat fried foods you can on a rare occasion like on thanksgiving once a year i eat fried food and thats a turkey. also dont drink alot of soda.
its the culprit for alot of people my brother is joining the air force and just by quiting soda he lost 20 pounds but always work out eat right and you will be good :D

Im 5'7 and im 260 lbs. Its not easy, but i was 20 pounds heavier. I got really depressed and didnt eat for a couple days and lost 20 lbs in a week. Eat small portions and make it healthy food, the weight will fly off

Go for walks. Eat healthier choices. Smaller portioned meals.
Start off slowly and gradually build up a workout routine.
You can do it. :) Just push yourself and tell yourself that's what you want.
Make yourself a deadline and a reward or consequence if you achieve/don't achieve the goal.
Best of luck to you.

i would recomend a healthy diet (there are millions of different diets out there) just find 1 that best fits your needs n weight liftin is good but if you wanna lose your belly the best exersizes to do are stomach crunchs n walkin/joggin start out small n increase the amount of each every day.
example- today do 10 crunchs n (if you have a walkin track near by) say walk 1 lap, then tomorrow do 15 crunchs n walk 2 laps so on n so forth also dont get discouraged if you dont notice a change right away it will take time but just exercise or diet alone wont help you it deff requires a balance of both but 1 thing i do know n have read on almost every weight loss site i ever seen is its not really what you eat but more or less how much you eat at 1 time 5-7 smaller meals is better for you then 3 large meals obviously there are some foods you want to try n avoid but like i said i would research diets online n see what 1 fits you best if you need help findin 1 or want some ideas / tips PM me il gladly help yuh out

If the stats and age are correct, then Bryce, you are a "big boy" and Biandproud, you are indeed "overweight.". You are the same age yet Bryce is 5 inches taller BUT more then twenty pounds lighter.
Fighting back against insensitive teasing, especially from "loved ones" can be great motivation. Not wanting to be embarrassed by your body can also motivate. But doctors will tell you that another motivating factor SHOULD be that: being overweight (and that is relative to body type, metabolism, height, age, etc.) as a child, or juvenile, almost always leads to medical issues later on.
Most of these medical issues are quite serious and can begin to appear as early as late teens. Diabetes is rampant among young people in the US. This trend is blamed on diet, lack of excercise, and excess weight. Heart disease is far more prevalent in persons who have struggled with being overweight going back to their childhood. With regard to the growth spurt, poor diet, excess weight, lack of excersise, at the time that the body is trying to grow, can cause strains in everything from joints and muscles, to heart and lungs.
Bottom line...another real good reason to improve your diet and level of excercise as a kid, is it greatly improves your chances of living long enough to see YOUR own kids grow up.
You're young, believe it or not that is to your advantage. It will be much harder as you get older to reverse the trend of being overweight. You have way more time right now to start forming new, healthier habits than you're going to have as an adult. Further, your body can be influenced far more easily as a young person, than it can after it has reached maturity.
It's funny, but I just realized that my problem was the exact opposite. I was always skinny as a kid and really didnt fill out when I got older, the only way I can put on weight, and have confidence taking off my shirt in public is lifting weights, which I still do 3 or 4 times a week.
Be sure to consult a doctor if you plan to drastically alter your diet and excersise.
Best of luck, and I bet a whole lot of people here would like to hear some updates on your progress.:cool::cool:

I don't care about my weight and none of my friends do either. Just my dad who tells me I'm getting heavy and should lose weight. I hate it. He's the only reason I'm self conscious at home.

i've never technically been overweight, but i've always thought i could afford to loose a few pounds. so i did, it took time and dedication, but during puberty is the easiest time to loose weight and gain muscle. you'll feel so much better even if you only lose a few pounds so its just noticeable. btw im 6ft and 11.4 stone!
good luck!
