Recently I have been having issues with my old LG chocolate. I have had that phone for about 3 years now. It isn't the primary phone I use now, but I like to keep it and use it to play .3gp files (since my new phone can't).

One day I tried to turn on my chocolate, and the screen lit up with the start up screen for a few seconds, then it just shut off. A few seconds later, it just automatically turned back on then back off and repeated this process until I removed the battery. I tried to charge it and then turn it on, but it still did the on/off thing. I don't feel like going to verizon about it, since it isn't my primary phone, but I wanted to know if there is anything I could do to make it work normal again?

Sounds like a dead battery, expected after 3 years. The battery is not able to hold enough charge, i.e:
Like when you first bought it:
[---------------------------------100%]
To about 1 year in:
[----------------------------85%]
To now:
[--2%]

If this is the case of the battery life simply past it's date, just buy another battery off amazon for about £5.

He'd be better off testing if it was that before wasting money on something he might not need.

OP Have you tried testing it with the charger in at the time?
