Spook

At age 9, I had a friend named Ashley Anderson. She was the sweetest person ever, everyone always wanted to be around her. I hung out with her alot, and we developed a friendship. I considered her my best friend in 1st grade. She was beautiful, kind, and I never saw her not smiling. She could take the most boring thing and turn it into an adventure. Everyone in the class loved her. In the middle of 2005, Ashley was diagnosed with leukemia. She was admitted to the hospital, and completed her schoolwork there. Her happy face left our classroom, and everything was dull. I was only nine, but I understood more than one would ever know. The monitors came on one day at school and the principal announced that Ashley would be coming back to school, but that she had no hair; and we weren't to make fun of her. I was so excited I was going to see her again. Months passed, and I left public school to go to homeschool. One day I invited one of my friends over, also named Ashley. We were two of Ashley Anderson's closest friends. She told me Ashley had died. I didn't believe her until I got the invitation to her funeral. She had passed away on November 17, 2006 around 1:00 in the morning. She never woke up. I came to the funeral with my friend Shelby, and all we could do is cry all night. I couldn't imagine the wooden coffin before me had my best friend in it. I saw her stuffed animals, slideshows of her at the hospital summer camp, and letters she wrote from camp. I miss you. I miss you.
