We should change the title of the Teen Sexuality section to include gender identity. Otherwise people may assume that gender issues are somehow equated with sexuality or sexual orientation, which is a false assumption, and only furthers misconceptions about gender identity. I know this was brought up awhile ago, but I really think this should be done.

If it was brought up a while ago and turned down, what makes you think it'll be approved this time? I haven't seen that thread in a while, but it's fair to assume it was rejected for valid enough reasons.

Because the reason given was that it wasn't worth the effort. Which isn't true, I think.

I don't, really. I didn't really like the last thread on it. Teen Sexuality is probably the broadest we can get while maintaning the original definition. My point in the last thread was that adding something about gender identity could actually change the definition of the board, you know, because gender identity doesn't only have to do with being transgender. But right now, we all know that Teen Sexuality is a place to talk about orientation, transgender, as well as sex in general. I don't mind changing it if we want to redefine the board, but if we don't, then it should be kept.

If people are already posting in that section about gender identity then there wouldn't be any "redefining." It'd just be renaming the section to be more inclusive. I don't see how this redefines the forum at all.

Italics prove your point better. I'm obviously well aware that the topic of gender identity does not solely cover those who are transgender. And no, there is no place on this site to talk about gender identity as a whole. So maybe redefining that particular forum is a better idea. Overall, I'm suggesting that there be a place for gender identity (because there is no specific place for it right now), and I thought that Teen Sexuality would be the best place.

Actually doing things by this logic would not make it anymore or any less inclusive because the topic of gender issues falls under the main sexuality topic.

By this logic we should also put all the subtopics of Sexuality issues into the Teen Sexuality section because if you just add one specific issue than other people may feel left out.

It is best to keep it just a general name like 'Teen Sexuality' for the sanity of the members.
