I want to start a GSA...

My school is SO homophobic, though. I worry that a Gay-Straight alliance will only cause MORE bullying and crap. Seriously, I can't get through one class period without overhearing some homophobic slurs or insults.

It makes me angry. It makes me WANT to start a GSA, a safe place for people who may actually be gay at my school. But it may end up becoming the opposite. If some of these idiots at my school even catch a whiff of 'gay' on you, you're dead. They'd surely make your life a living hell if you were to join a Gay-Straight alliance.

What do you guys think? Should I leave it alone? Or should I bring up the possibility of a GSA at my school? Both have several pros and cons....

hi megson and i feel so stupid because i thought gsa was that you wanted to start a girl scout troop lol so sorry. my school is just like yours and most kids here seem to hate gay people because they bash me about it and call me names and i am not even sure if i am gay or not. i would like to say yay you go for it megson because i think you are so brave for even thinking about doing that but i can only tell you what i think it would be like around here and i think here they would make it even harder for you but that makes me sad to say that.
