I didn't want to start a discussions in the name change thread otherwise i would have posted this in there, but if i may suggest i think it would be good to put the name change rules, you have to be a member 3 months etc. in the first post of the name change thread, that or make a new post that is titled something like "Name Change Rules".

The only problem with posting the rules in the first post, would be no one read it. For example we have a rule or more so a request for people to only post what they want their name to change to. But the majority don't even do that.

I dont think this would work well to be honest. People who just joined may want a name change, and if they cant get one, will be forced to make a new account. Too many 'ghost' accounts will just annoy everybody.

I do agree that the wait should be shorter.

why, when you pick your name you should be sure of it. There is no need to change your name less than 3 months after you joined. Its hard enough to remember who is who without people changing their name every week.

Every week is way weird - people shouldn't be affiliated with anything if they're that scared that they might reveal their identity.
Kiros had the same philosiphy about not changing your name ever, but guess what he did? He was Kiros72 in September when I left...when I came back to the site in December, he was just Kiros O_o
I don't see a reason why it should be 3 months. Some people might join and think 'damn, what a stupid username' and then want it changed. Plus, it is advised that you put your last username in your sig (like in little letters "Formerly know as Apocalyptic_Storm" or something else)
The Admins reccomended people would do that, but they never enforced it :|

Why would the admins enforce something optional?
And funny, Kiros changes his name one time in 2.5 years and you're comparing that to being able to change your user name more than once in 16 weeks?
The admins have better things to do than doing constant name changes and to be honest, they could do away with name changes altogether if they wanted to. They aren't at your service to change your names when you want and how often you want. Just be glad you're able to do it and have some patience if you want it changed but you have to wait awhile.

Why do you use 'constant name changes'?? Who says they're doing it constandly?
And are you thinking what I think you might be thinking but you might not be thinking but I'm sure you are thinking? Do you think that I want to eliminate the name change rule completley?
When was I ever complaining about something optional? I was answering a question to confusion about name changes - but usually if one of the following occurs it's not as hard:
The person doesn't change their avatar or signature
The user puts 'formerly know as' or something else in their signature to verify
Or if others read the name change thread and keep up-to-date with the name changes (they don't have to remember every single one, but read it just in case someone they know changes it
Plus a little bit of confusion isn't that bad. Just a friendly mis-hap :D
(just to make sure, could you answer my above questions?)

Like Anthony said you cant honestly compare him changing his name once in 2+ to people who have changed it less than 3 months after they joined.

So with all of those answered here is my suggestion. When you pick a user name make sure you like it! You should feel lucky you can change it at all. Most forums I am a member of don't let you change it at all.
O ya This (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=149377&highlight=username) may help the admins if your interested. It is a mod that adds a new User CP section for users to request a new username. It will list all these requests in your administrators control panel. It is one of the first releases of it so it doesn't have all of the features but it may help organize name changing a little better, and hopefully with future versions become more useful

Well firstly Ant didn't answer my questions
Secondly I think a thread is better because it's no so in-your-face as right there on your control panel
Thirdly many updates are already being done so Kiros doesn't really need any more work
Fourth I don't feel lucky. Sorry.
Fifth maybe we could do it like Govteen after Kiros gets the site together
Sixth your link doesn't work
Seventh you read my post wrong which gets me all mad lol :P I never said they had to do anyting

? the CP is "in your face". Thats news to me.
As for kiros being busy i agree, he and the other admins should have to mess with constantly changing peoples usernames. That frees up some time. Then i made it as a suggestion, it doesn't have to be done right now and in the long term will probibly save them time and effort.

Ok i am going to hope that your not trying to be a stuck up bitch and are just kidding. Because what exactly would you prefer. not being able to change your signature avatar or info. Or can exactly explain how the control panel is "in your face". I don't know what gave you the idea that you somehow know more than the rest of us.

I don't know what gave you the right to accuse me or call me a bitch in this thread. If you want to talk more, you gotta PM me, not clutter this thread with nonsense.
I was being serious! Chill out man! :whoops:
