Do you feel any different after you hear the music you love? Does your mood change? Or do you listen to music to just pass the time? I'd really like to hear your thoughts and opinions, thanks.

Without music, I would have killed myself by now. Literally, not kidding at all. Anyone that knows me well on this forum knows that I'm very much a music nerd and that this year I've been very active in trying to become a "musician", whatever that really means.

I'm in the same boat as deadpie. I would have killed myself a long time ago if not for music. It's one of the few things keeping me going.

I've been playing violin for 10 years, viola for 4, guitar for 3ish, and drums for Ihavenoideahowlong, and I'm taking class piano at community college this year. Not to mention the fact that I'm a composer, and music is all I can see myself doing with my life.
So, my life IS music. I am forever influenced and changed by the music I learn, play, and create.

My mom did a report on this for online college.

My friend wrote a speech about this.

Research has been done, but I just don't know where to find it, besides google. But, music stopped me from running away. Although, it was also the reason I wanted to runaway...

Music changes everything. Its the reason I live. Music makes me sad and makes me feel blissful.

I wouldn't have shaped myself as a guitarist 5 years ago. I don't think I can answer this question without having experienced it first hand so, my assumption is I'd be really bored but still not inclined to kill myself. Music isn't my life, it just gives it a little more taste.

Music has led me to more than just, well, music, it's shown me ideas, let me meet some amazing people who have indirectly helped shape my life, teaching me, as cheesy as it sounds, that it's okay to be eccentric and even a bit mental at times, and to be myself. Artists have paved the way for me, influencing the direction I've wanted to take everything, from Tarja Turunen of Nightwish being my inspiration to have taken up classical singing and Amanda Palmer my reason for still playing piano after all these years.

Music itself is like the medication I refuse. It does exactly what medication should and it's actually effective instead. I have songs that are anti-depressants and songs that are mood-stabilizers and even songs that are anti-psychotics, sleep-inducers, anxiety meds. Music is an essential part of my day-to-day life. It helps me concentrate, strangely. I work better while listening to music, drive better while listening to music, think better while listening to music. I write to music, and so it would be wrong to not credit the artists who I listen to during the writing of my stories since they give me a lot of my ideas indirectly. My stories are usually shit before I've compiled the playlist and listened through it several times while writing.

Music is my life. The more depressed I get the more I listen to it, it can really help me sometimes. Like deapdie music has literally saved my life on multiple occasions.

Music is everything in my world. I listen to it constantly. I'm also a musician so I play it all the time too. I've got songs for every mood man. I listen to music and go places in my head a lot. Playing has kept me from going crazy I really believe.
Music is so private and social that it really covers a wide range in my life. I've met some great people just through jamming, giggin or just hangin out at somebody else s shows. I've also had great experiences alone. Music really is the great communicator. I know that sounds cheesy, but there it is :)

When I listened, or play music I feel like I'm floating on a cloud, where no rules counts.

There is a very simple answer to this question for me: Music is my life.

I play euphonium (picture here)
http://www.trevorjonesltd.co.uk/BessonBE2051andBE2052PrestigeEuphonium.htm

and I play in 4 brass bands. (Band Geek! :P)

I have also played at 2 Scottish championships, 1 British Championship and played in the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland.

I am taught by one of the best teachers in Britain (he used to conduct the former British Youth Brass Band Champions)

If you want any more info, just ask :)

Music helps me become happy when i'm sad and helps me calm down when I'm angry. It is pretty much what saves me from being depressed all the time.

Music is a part of me. Without it I would be sad or wouldn't have any motivation like I have today.
When I put on my earbuds I listen to the lyrics and think about what they mean to me. It changes my mood every once and awhile: alternative- mixed feelings, pop- happy/bubbly, techno- energetic and extremely happy, ect.

Anytime there is music, regardless if I like it or not, it's a time that my imagination runs wild. I feel life would be somewhat less interesting with music.

It depends on the song. Like More Human Than Human by White Zombie makes my heart go crazy, while Fallin' by Alicia Keys makes me sad.

In the words of Marilyn Manson

"When I was a kid growing up, music was the escape. That's the only thing that had no judgments. You know, you put on a record, and it's not going to yell at you for dressing the way you do. It's going to make you feel better about it."

Genius

I love how music doesn't berate me, it agrees with me when I say "fuck The Man"

Music is my life. Without music I'd be bored out of my mind... Life would be gray and bleak, I'd have no purpose...
And heck yeah, music influences my mood. The music I listen to is an expression of who I am. That's why when someone walks up to me and says 'You're a nerd because you listen to Bleach OSTs/Death Note OSTs/Portal 2 Soundtracks/etc', I politely tell them off and shoo them away.

It's kept me here this long. If it wasn't for good music, I'd have pulled the plug on this dump we call earth and kicked the bucket long ago. It's ingrained into my psyche and every damned fibre of my being.

Music is everything. There's a song for everything you could ever go through in a lifetime. And if there isn't, then write one! It inspires me, helps me remember and forget, helps me through life.

Music is the only time when you can sometimes escape the world. Go to another place where you can be yourself. Music plays a big role in my life.

Music is the be all and end all. Nothing will ever be able to kill it and nothing can convey emotions like it does. It raises debates, arguments, questions and brings people closer. If music didn't exist the world would be a very dreary, boring, long winded oppressive ball.

It doesn't convey emotions, it elicits them.

Thanks, I'll remember that next time.
