Okay, sorry if this sounds a little weird, but I have a little brother and he is about 6 years old, and I've noticed he has a boner sometimes. It's rare that I see him with one, but why does he have one? Do little boys actually think about sex or is it just a random occurance?

i dont think they know what it is but they may have sexual thoughts. young kids as they grow, often find different things about their body that can give them good feelings. young boys may find pleasure while playing with their dick and can get boners at young ages

Think of it like this… his body needs to test all of it's functions before being launched into society… his body wants to give him the opportunity to see if he can or can't get boners before he will need to reproduce. this is a test period for his body.

All males have penises and guess what? THEY USUALLY WORK FROM BIRTH!
Having a boner as a pre pubertal kid is something completely normal, he could have been touching himself, or rubbed, or he just wondered what was that thing between his legs or it was a spontaneous one.
It's totally normal for kids to masturbate or even feel orgasms when discovering their bodies.
It happened to you too, you just can't remember.
