OK people I have 2 questions for you and here they are.

Why is it in Grand Theft Auto there are never kids or at least teenage punks?

In Fallout 3 and New Vegas there are children but you can't kill them.

Gonna make some people mad but I don't care so here: I think if a game was to be realistic then I'd wanna shoot some babies!!! In Red Dead Redemption you can kill animals because it's frontier like but not in the city of GTA.

Now old people in congress have mostly had a war on video games, could the ability to harm children who don't and will never exist be the straw that breaks the camels back and make something illegal?

Other Question is:

Why can't we have an interactive drug making facility? where we actually get to make coke and heroin in the game. Realism right?

It's mostly because then you would see the rating go from "M" to "AO", and then the current target audience would not be able to play it anymore, thus creating a large downfall in profits.
And they can't have that, now can they?

"It's immoral". There isn't really a good argument for it, but I don't see what the big deal is, honestly.

I'd actually love to see a game where you can choose crime or be something like an agent. If you choose the former, you can produce drugs, traffic them and sell them. I loved the GTA series, but it was all the same. Kill, sleep, steal, kill repeat. Make it a bit more open ended and it would be better. If you don't like all the violence and the crime, choose a path that doesn't involve those two. If you want to play as a criminal, play as a criminal. Ratings are redundant and the boards who make ratings have no right to do so. They can say "hey this game might have some objectionable content" but they can't control who should play and who should not.

video games are a freedom of speech and expression, you it can't be banned. And, WTF, killing babies?? Okay, the only reason it is legal in the U.S. [being debated in California] is cuz its freedom protected by the 1st amendment, but the government does not want to get minds into killing babies and kids!

If there was a law like this, teenagers will not be able to play games like these if killing babies and kids was in games and the video game industry will lose aloottt of money.

To me, video game violance is okay [i <3 MW3] and [i <3 GTA V] But killing babies?? Dammnn dats badass.

Who obeys the age rating rules anyway? There are many kids who play 18+ games at age 10

Games don't allow you to shoot kids because of the repercussions it could have on their business. Fallout 2 allowed you to kill kids just fine (though with heavy repercussions).

Video games are a business, not an art form, and a lot of people buying games are casual players who don't want to be able to shoot schoolgirls in the face. Losing the money of the casuals/moralists/whatever isn't worth catering to reasonable people that know a game is a game and just want more freedom, since the latter will buy it anyway. Tough. It's not about the 1st amendment. It's about the dollar. Cash, moolah, money, bucks, hay.

Deal with it. Just mod.

I think people would just thinks its wrong, I would feel pretty weird if I could kill babies and kids in a game. Like when I play GTA and I run over people by accident sometimes. Some people don't want to kill children and if they do by accident it might make them feel really bad or weird.

Game companies give the consumer what they want.

Most consumers do not want baby killing simulations.

Question answered.

The same reason news presenters don't say nigger or faggot on TV. It may offend someone. It doesn't take a forum thread to work it out

personally, i think what we have now is mostly far enough in video games, i mean like Perseus said- it is immoral. and also, i know a number of people (im thinking most) that play this game are under the age of consent (i suppose you can say, like i think its 17 or 18). And although the game itself is bad, i dont think the people buying the games for their kid would want to go any further. As it says in the store "Respect the Rating" they do that for a reason.

As others said as well, its the money too, they would be out of business even before they let the game out if they did that. There ARE certain rules to live by, even in the video gaming industry...
