View Full Version : Tattoo placement?

I wasn't sure where to put this thread, but I consider tattoos to be art, and where they're placed can change the "artwork" a fair amount, so I was wondering..

I'm getting this done on my wrist in three days:

But where should I place it? I was going to get it on the underside, near my palm. But with my work, I'm always getting scratches there, PLUS my veins there are fairly prominent.
So what about on my wrist near the top of my hand, or on the inside side (closer to my thumb)?

I don't really want to get it placed higher up my arm, I think it would look odd and lonely there... xD

I have four tattoos, and I know what you mean by art work. I concentrate more on where to place them than anything, because if it doesn't all fit into place, it just looks wrong.

Are you sure you want it on your wrist? It looks like it would look awesome on your back somewhere, like between your shoulder blades or actually on a shoulder blade.

Anyways, the base of your wrist, where it connects to your hand, is where I had first figured you would place it. It's length is just right to spread across the skin and look perfect. Plus, placing it there, you can cover it up with a watch if you ever have to go do something that involves the hiding of tattoos (Damn people).

It would look beautiful there, actually, in my opinion. Don't put it on the top half of your arm, where the hair is. It just wouldn't look right. And don't get it on your actual hand, it's painful but at the same time it will rub off quick (That sounds impossible, but it's true, the ink will eventually rub away and fade quicker because you use your hands so often). And if you are worried about your veins, your tattoo artist should be able to decide whether or not they are too prominent to have it placed there. If you still can't decide once you get there, they should also be able to help you find the perfect spot for it.

You need to upload pictures of it, once you get it done!!!

Thanks for the opinion! I am hoping for the underside of my wrist for sure.

I've been told the top wouldn't look too bad, as corsages and such sit there on top.. but I don't know about that one..

I will post photos the second I get it done haha =D

Also, tattoos are "body art" and imo, as long as they're done well, the imagery and subject matter can be as important as placement. I'm just unhappy that I'm too chicken so get anything extravagant in case it hurts or I hate it later haha.
