.45 ACP is the best. Good stopping power is what you want in CQB situations which is the typical application for hanguns and submachine guns that use those two rounds.
9 mm is better for ambushes or very stealth operations when you want to carry a lot of ammo and want to be able to pump a lot of rounds out with fairly low recoil.

I Like .45 ACP Because it has really good stopping power. I brutally hate 9mm because They have too much power behind a too small of a bullet. But My favorite Round of all Is the .44 Mag.

I've always seen the ACP as better for my purpose because it's so powerful. Now make that a hollowpoint and look what you have. However, if I was going to engage many targets with something like a submachine gun (like the UMP, Uzi, MP5 or AKS74U), I would want 9 mm simply because it's a lot of rounds with little recoil, therefore slightly higher accuracy. If I had a choice however, my favorite round would have to be the 5.45x39 mm or the 7.62x54R. For handguns, I think .45 is the best.

If you look at a 9mm compared to .45 you will see that the 9mm has a small bullet with a big powder load behind it. The .45 is a heavy bullet with enough powder that it flys slow and when it hits someone or something it automatically stops and creates more damage to the person. But as for my .44 Mag. I blow yo head off that mother f*cker.
