ok so this year in health class our health teacher said that boys cant pee while they have a hard on cuz (as she explained it) "theres a flap like thing in your penis that closes off your bladder when you get an erection" well my question is i can / have been able to pee while i have a hard on is that normal?
was my teacher wrong? or is somethin wrong with me? she said our bodies were like that so pee didnt mix in with our semen durin ejaculation / sexual pleasure which ive never had pee mix in with my cum

(usually if im hard n have to pee i will "go soft" as im peeing)

Your health teacher is completely correct about the flap thing. Guys do have a 'flap' that separates the two.

You can probably pee because when your going to pee, yous penis is probably not exited enought to fully close the flap. I.e it's a little soft at the moment you go to pee. There is defiantly nothing wrong with you.

Hope that helps,

I can still pee when hard too, I thort it had summat to do with the size of the prostrate! The bigger it gets, the less chance of peeing when hard, dunno tho

If I'm all the way hard, I can't pee. I've tried and nothing comes out. But as soon as it starts to go back to a semi, then the pee comes out.

There is a 'flap' for lack of a better term. This happens during ejaculation. It doesn't happen when you take a piss. If you'll notice its a little harder to piss right after you cum. But gets a little easier if you wait a bit. This is because of the 'flap'. Your teacher is right to some degree, but damn there had to be a better way to break that one down. hahaha

Cody, and other posters. The health teacher is partially right and you guys are switching back and forth between two different situations.

Of course a male can pee with an erection...most of us do it every morning. What is less probable is ejaculating (shooting) and urinating at the same time. Men are equipped with a muscle...the books say we have an internal urethral sphincter muscle... don't know if it's THE same sphincter muscle...but its supposed to tighten around the the urethra near where it enters the bladder, to prevent urine from mixing with the semen when we come. A muscle, not a flap. Urine and sperm are not allies. Urine is too acidic and would kill a lot of sperm straight away. Urine is also not welcome in the female birth canal.

If you're very practiced with jerking yourself off and pay close attention when you come, you'll feel, and see, the effects of this muscle just as you're about to shoot. At that point, our boner gets it's hardest, the tip will swell, and turn dark, and most of us will notice that our penis is at it's largest dimensions of the session. This is that muscle contracting deep in us where our shaft and urethra extend up into our bodies. As we begin to come, if we try to concentrate through the great feeling we're having, we can feel this and other muscles deep inside us contracting and releasing, pushing the fluid out. Many of these are the same muscles we use when taking a dump, pinching to try to keep from taking a dump, or trying to push the last few squirts of piss out.

If someone finds that they are not ejaculating a semen like fluid, and it's not due to over work (too many hand jobs or whatever), he should look closely at his urine to see if it's milky or discolored. These can be signs, individually or in tandem, that their muscle is not closing off the urethra completely when they come and some urine is mixing with the semen. There is a medical term for this "syndrome" that can be researched on the net.

it's so cool how you guys get on here and try to help each other. Cool

yeah I can pee with a boner too, it just isn't as easy, but actually I do it a lot in the morning when I first get up and still have my morning wood. But yeah I think another reason that it is harder is because the prostate swells up around the part of the urethra leading to the bladder, because its like two separate tubes that become one, so yeah it makes it a little tougher too pee but not impossible, there isn't like a flap that completely closes the bladder off

to everyone who said the teacher was wrong, lolno. here,
first of all, I'm pretty sure that it is the book that she got it from. If you wanna argue with the writers of that book, that's your fun. However, the "flap" develops during puberty, I presume.

i NEVER said the teacher was wrong i agreed shes an idiot which imho she is n not just for this issue n if she got it from a book i doubt the book called it a "flap" she could of better explained it all she prolly did was confuse every boy in the class n get them worried would be like a math teacher tellin a bunch of 9th graders "the addition sign is that lower case small "T" lookin type of thing" it just dont sound profesional comin from a teacher but again my judgements of her bein n "idiot" arent based on just this situation

It's normal. I can piss with a boner, but its kind of awkward and hard to. As far as your cum mixing with your piss, it shouldn't. I think there is something in your dick or your urinary system that prevents them from mixing.

That's right I think. So the more aroused and close to cumming you the less able to pee.

If I really try, I can. I think that it is just there so that the acidity of the urine doesn't kill the sperm

Your teacher was only partially right. The prostate gland does act as a two way valve so the tube leading out of your penis (the urethra) is either connected to your bladder (normal mode) or the tubes leading from your testicles and seminal vesicles (cum mode).

As you get aroused and closer to orgasm it switches to cum mode and at that point you would not be able to pee even with a full bladder. After you've cum or if you let your arousal subside it will switch back but this can take a minute or two.

Where your teacher is wrong is that the switch does not happen as soon as you get an erection - the level of arousal needs to be higher than that.

I think what she meant to say was that you can't pee during sexual intercourse or whils masturbation, but you can pee when you have an erection.
