A 10-year-old trick-or-treater in South Carolina pulled a pistol on a neighbor who teased that she was going to take his candy on Halloween, The Aiken Standard reports.
An Aiken, S.C., police report says the 28-year-old woman told authorities she recognized a group of boys making the rounds on Halloween and jokingly threatened to take away their candy.
According to the report, one 10-year-old responded by saying, "No you're not …" and then pointed a 9mm handgun at her, The Augusta Chronicle reports.
The Chronicle quotes police Lt. David Turno as saying there was no clip in the gun, but that the boy had one in his possession. His brother, police say, was also armed.
The gunman was turned over to the custody of his parents, the Standard says. Turno says the boys got their weapons from their grandfather without permission, the newspaper reports.

Don't fuck with this kid's candy. For a second I wasn't sure if this was serious or not.

How could you actually discipline this? Can't exactly put the full blame on parents, kid's too young to do time, he probably didn't realise the implications of his actions either.
I bet the woman serving candy wasn't too happy.

this is why america needs stricter gun control. there should never be a situation where children can take their grandfather's gun "without permission" - and I think that situations like this should end in charges of criminal negligence against the owners of the gun.

That's completely ridiculous! Children should not have unsupervised access to guns, and steps ought to be taken to keep them away!

...Why did the kid feel the need to have a gun in the first place? This is what I'm worried about.

The kid probably just thought it was cool.. that or has seen way too many movies where guns were used to save somebody..
CaptainObvious had a good idea.. Either that or child endangerment against whoever was in charge of caring for him at the time. Allowing a child to get so close to a gun when they're under your supervision..... he could have seriously hurt himself! Not to mention the poor woman he pulled the gun on and anyone else who came in contact with him all night who could have pissed him off o__o

Sorry but as a fellow UK citizen this stuff happens all the time, especially in the poorer areas, ghettos and slums of places like London, Manchester and Newcastle.

I remember hearing about this on the local news. It's amazing what little kids have access to nowadays. Although really, it all comes down to the parents. The gun had to come from somewhere.
Glad no one was hurt, though. This wasn't too far away from me.

When it comes to home defense, guns are very useful. You have the right to bear arms, but it depends on how you use them. It's not stupid unless you use them for stupid reasons.
