im not tryin to bash on ppl but im new here n still learnin the rules n terms on here n some of the rules are pretty vage n it seems some of the mods on here like just pointin out that you did somethin wrong instead of tryin to help you understand what you did wrong or how to fix it so it dont happen again in the future. i will say some of the mods ive had to deal with were very helpful n nice to me where as others were imho very rude n just liked pointin out i did somethin wrong... i thought we were all here to help eachother out n get/give advice i think the mods should be people on here that have showed they can not only enforce the rules but also help ppl understand them
to me a response of "go re-read the site rules" isnt helpin someone if i already read the rules n still made a mistake or violated 1 of the vage rules re-readin the rules aint gonna help

to me thats like askin a teacher how to spell somethin n they tell you "look it up" smh

just think it would make things more smooth maybe im wrong n im not sayin bein a mod on here is easy i wouldnt know but they knew what they were signin up for when they did it

Moderators are here to enforce the rules. You break the rules, you receive a warning. If you don't do anything wrong, you shouldn't have any troubles.

Actually, usually when you ask a teacher how to spell something, they do tell you to look it up(the good ones, anyways). Js ;)

Anyways, we wouldn't be telling you if you hadn't done anything wrong.
I do believe in the rules it says to contact a staff member if you don't understand the rules, so please do so if needed.(i.e. you can ask me if you don't know what a "bump limit" is).

your right i could then i could ask 3 other staff members n get different answers ive found that each staff member has different opinions on that rule some say its from the date of the original post others say its from the date of the last activity on the thread just as others have said its against the rules to comment on a thread thats already been bumped by someone else others have said its perfectly fine as long as you didnt actually bump it n then ive been told its neither against the rules or ok to do it its 1 of those things that just frowned upon kind of like jerkin off on an airplane lol

Well, the official rule (for the P101 forums) is as follows:
1) Bumping: we see this rule broken a lot, so let us make it clear. Bumping is when you post in threads where the last post was a significant time ago. The bumping limits are different for the Puberty forums, as outlined below.

Puberty For Boys: 2 months
Puberty For Girls: 2 months
Questions for Boys and Girls: 3 months

Threads may be bumped by the original poster.

Anywheere else in the forum, its two months, except if:
1. It is bumped by the OP
2. It is in a diary

Different mods make the final decision though. If they feel a thread (in P101since I think you are relating your question to this) can stay open after its bumped, its their decision.

There are specific things that are exactly enforced, you'll see this with bump limits and more serious offences. There are many things that are left up to the discretion of the moderator, and so you could get your thread locked by one moderator who was on one night because it was a bit far for them, but the moderator who ended up being on the next night might have thought it was appropriate for them. Just like police officers, it depends on their personality and their mood in some cases. If they catch you speeding, for instance, they may let you off with a warning or give you a ticket straight away. But if you murder someone, they'll all usually have the same reaction towards you.

to the person that said this was disrespectful im sorry you took it that way it wasnt meant to be disrespectful it was just sayin that a particular rule has many interpretations of the rule by different staff members n even regular members... n anytime someone thinks what i have said is disrespectful please PM me so i can possibly better word it or explain what the point was i was tryin to make im not usually a disrespectful person but trust me if i wanted to be it would be pretty obvious

This an interesting conversation! It needed to be discussed and I'm glad it did!

You're just trying to cause problems where they don't exist. Read the rules, and go off your interpretation of them; if you do something wrong, the moderators will tell you.

Yeah, there seems to be a problem here, which needs to be disussed and sorted out

First off I hate to post in a thread that was started a good month and half ago.
But I saw this and needed to say something...
Moderators are here to enforce the rules. You break the rules, you receive a warning. If you don't do anything wrong, you shouldn't have any troubles.

And then I saw this repeated. I don't know if things have changed but enforcing rules is only part of a moderators role. A moderator should help develop the area they are moderator of become a leader of that area.

This is something that always happens but moderators are not a police force there to reprimand and punish. They are there to help and guide members and grow the forums. If this is not being done then they are doing there job wrong or the job description has changed.

Right on my man, it is good to see you here. That is definitely still the job and we as a team always will reply to any PMs from new members looking for help and assistance and see it as our role to help people into the community and feel welcomed here. That is the most important thing about this site and it will continue to be. If anyone thinks this is not being done successfully drop me or another senior (blues or reds) a PM and we will definitely look into that. Your mods should be as much friends as anything

Sometimes modding this site can be hard work and sometimes mods do seem a little stern (when you have to lock threads for the same reason again and again, you gotta be to get the message to some users) but at the same time we should all be friendly and that is indeed the aim. So yeah if you guys are seeing us as your bosses, that is not the way it is supposed to be. you can come to us for anything at any time and we will serve you in the best way possible, cause that is what all of us signed up for
