How many of you go to a school where in the fall and spring (or some other time(s)) your school has a play and/or musical? you know, people can sign up to perform in a play or a musical...do you go watch them?
I went to both play and musical at my school last year - they were amazing, especially the musical, Les Miserables - and this year I am also going to the play
edit: or, how many of you actually perform in a play/musical or worked backstage?

I have never watched, I have always performed in them, I graduated this last school year so it will be odd to sit and watch them now....

I've worked backstage for every musical we've done for the past couple years. I have to watch them over and over again before the actual production, to get an idea of the show's flow for when scene shifting has to happen.

in my first musical ever, i was chosen to be Grandpa Joe in Willie Wonka. The cast was great, but our director was a real b*tch and turned me off from doing theater entirely.

I was techie operating lighting equipment for two years, and this year I'm helping out with tech and playing tuba in the pit. We're doing Phantom of the Opera! It's pretty awesome.

Both. :P Well, I don't watch often because I'm busy being in them, but I watched... ah, one of my old school's plays and all the performances in which there were two casts and I'm not in one of them (that was only for one production though, ha. We had two casts in Charlie and the Chocolate factory, but only Willy Wonka, Charlie, Grandpa Joe, and the other golden ticket winners were double-cast. We had two casts for Wizard of Oz as well but the other Glinda came down with some strange sickness and missed a huge portion of the rehearsals so I became the only Glinda). It's mostly work in the productions though. Nothing with school now as I'm not currently in school, but I do community theatre with a theatre company. I did some backstage work while I was in school though, in class whenever I didn't feel like being in the productions. But I'm predominately more of a "in front of the curtain" person. Strangely, with my personality.

My school has both a Fall and a Spring play/musical. I've been to one; plays and musicals don't really excite me.

We have musicals once a year
The director writes the whole play herself, except for the music which our music teacher(and this year me) composes
This year their making a war musical,me and my teacher are working on the music
I got to make one of the songs, thinking of something in the direction of the Silent Hill theme

My school did les mis last year too! I wasn't in it though. I am signing up for the main school play this year ( 1 a year) and am also in the junior school play (1 a year). Usually we have plays - les mis was the only musical.

I stage managed all three of the plays we had at my school last year, and just finished the fall play and am all ready getting ready for our spring musical. Being SM has given me some notoriety around the school, one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
