I regret not joining GSA in high school. I had a gf at the time and she somehow convinced me it was a bad idea. Stupid.

Anyways, I'm happy for you. Much luck to you and your friend. You'll be in quite a position of influence, and that can get overwhelming at times. I was VP of the multi-cultural club in my sophomore year and everybody ran to me for each little thing. And I mean EVERYBODY -- the members, school faculty, the vice principal to chew me out for asking for too much funding and not giving enough notice when I invited guests to speak at our meetings. It was always something.

Just make sure you have a solid plan and that you recruit a team you know won't lose interest quickly and that's willing to dedicate their time and effort to furthering the club's reach. Have fun and good luck! :)

My High school has one, (it for advanced students) so in a way, almost EVERYONE is in it, most arent because their parents won't allow them to join, or its against their religion, but they have no problem with LGBTs, so essentially, our GSA is kinda just to say we have one, haha!!!

I'm the "Coordinator of Gay Activities" (as the last Coordinator called it, because he didn't want to be called the Mascot, haha...He was also essentially the VP, so that's what I am, oh and there are co-presidents)
