John Zorn is an avant garde saxophonist who has made over one hundred albums to date. This song, is better to know about before you hear it if you don't like noise much. Being the fact that he's jewish, he wanted to paint this picture of the night of Night of Broken Glass, which some of you might not know much about, so I'll educate y'all. On this night of November 1938, the Nazi's destroyed most of the synagogue's and destroyed the houses of jews.
He wanted to recreate this event into this piece, showing the brutality, fucking evil destruction that was caused by it. Have that picture in your mind while listening. Maybe you'll feel what he was aiming for and feel something. This also proves that noise itself, can provoke emotion. So fuck you noise haters!

This piece is the infamous "Threnody For The Victims of Hiroshima". It's been used in many horror movies such as the classic version of The Omen and The Shining, two great horror movies you should also watch on halloween!
Now back on subject. See, Penderecki grew up in Germany and he had first hand witnessed the destruction of the Jewish people and what was going on in Japan. He wrote this piece as a threnody for the Victims of the bombings on Japan, also as for anyone who died during this war. It's a very tragic, depressing, and disturbing piece. It's no wonder why it was used in such films to provoke suspense.
