So my ear used to block up sometimes but it would always clear by the end of the day, but this time it didnt clear, it's been blocked for over a month :what:
It doesn't feel blocked anymore, but my hearing is still funny. It's really unclear and I can hear blood rushing in it. I'm not sure if it's really unblocked and my hearing is damaged or if I'm just used to the blocked feeling. I've tried manually unblocking it, holding my nose and blowing, opening my mouth wide, hot water bottles, olive oil, even de-congestants! I don't want to get my ears syringed because it costs so much over here.
Is there anything else I could do? Does anyone think it's just my hearing that's gone?
When I put cotton buds in my ear nothing comes out, even when I put olive oil in. When I put oil in the first time loads came out but now nothing's coming out. Help :/

Okay firstly i wouldn't put cotton buds in there. If there is a blockage or anything you could be pushing it in further or you could damage something. The best thing you can do is see a doctor. They'll most likely give you some ear drops or there might be some fluid they need to drain out of your ears. My friend has a drainage problem with one of her ears and it can be sorted with a quick trip to the doctor.

Yeah I think I did push it in far, that's why it wont come out :/ My friend had the same fluid problem but she said if I can't actually hear fluid in my ear then that's not the case :whoops:

Hmm, well either way :P Doctors seems the best option they'll be able to sort it out quite quickly most probably :) It may just be a wax build up. Those are fairly common and easy to treat.

it's gotta be syringed. i don't quite understand how that would be expensive though, aren't medical procedures covered in ireland? and even if not, syringing is one of the simplest things that a doctor can do.
the best technique is to soak the ear canal with a few drops of mineral oil for a half hour, then syringe with warm water. nothing else is anywhere close to as effective.

It costs like 60 euro just to talk to a GP, and if they actually do anything it costs like 100 more :/ I went down and asked them so... :L
Yeah I'll try, thanks :P

Yea as much as it may suck the best thing to do is let them irrigate it out. And like said before, don't even put cotton buds near your ears, ive seen a doctor remove 3 cotton bud heads from this old mans ear. Let us know how it goes :)

Id definitely see a doctor for this. Using earbuds can only exacerbate the problem. You probably just need a cleaning. Earwax and skin cells can build up over time, making the ear block up.
