Do you think that most sci-fi programs get cacelled?
I personally do and I think its not because they have bad story lines I think its because people prefer to have action and not story lines
I prefer sci-fi with some action and not with all action and I think they get cancelled also because some people are too stupid to see twists and get involved in what the story represents.
So what do you guys think?
I can name 2 really good sci-fi that got cancelled
Outcasts
and V
So what do you guys think?

I haven't seen anything that suggests sci-fi programs get cancelled at any higher rate than other shows.

Well, here in America, we really don't watch Sci-Fi all that much, so that could be a reason.

I think Sci-Fi just used to be a more popular genre... just like people used to wear florescent shirts.

I agree. I think most people don't watch them anymore. Or not enough. I've heard that a lot of sci - fi shows cost a lot to make. For example, Terra Nova on FOX right now. It's getting 8 million or so viewers, but, the show is ''disappointing'' according to FOX. The show costs a lot to make and they aren't getting a pretty good profit. It's all about profits...

I see sitcoms on the CW get cancelled minutes after the first episode.
But I believe Sci-Fi programs get cancelled often is because they just don't appeal to people as much these days. I find that a majority of people would rather watch reality shows (Jersery Shore, Survivor, etc.) rather than one with a plot.
(Save for Doctor Who because I can't count how many friends I've lost to that show.)

Stargate Universe :(
Good riddance. That show destroyed the franchise and I'll never forgive it.

Oh mannnnnnn....Jersey Shore? Sci-fi programs that get cancelled cannot be worse than Jersey Shore. Nothing can be worse than Jersey Shore. No offence to anyone........:)

Considering there's a whole channel dedicated to the genre, I'd say it's doing just fine.
Shows get cancelled because they suck/no one cares enough to watch them/crappy directing and writing, I don't think the genre has much to do with it.

SG1 was already finished and Atlantis had already been announced to be coming to an end way before Universe came out so it did nothing to the franchise as a whole, it's just that they tried to take it in a direction that the majority of previous stargate fans just didn't like.

I've heard the same thing. Because of the effects and sets, sci fi shows usually cost more to make. As a result, they have to get higher ratings than shows that cost less in order to survive. That's why you see so many reality shows or judge shows. They're cheap to make, so they don't have to have super ratings in order to be profitable.

I hope that's a good "lost".

Exactly. It killed it by making it unpopular and therefore unlikely to receive a continuation.

From what I understand it was also being released in the UK at a much later date, compared to SG1 & Atlantis. So a lot of people that I know, in the UK, actually turned to torrenting it - which can't have helped when they get the ratings from the UK.
