What is your opinion on Blackberry phones?
Lots of 'chavs' have these types of phone and cause trouble by organising riots etc. With the so called 'BBM'
what do you think of these phones, they good or bad or do you just hate them like me? :what:

I'm not sure I agree with your blaming the Blackberry messenger for the July riots. Perhaps it played a small part, but probably rather insignificant. Also, saying it's a 'chav phone' seems a bit of a generalisation. Honestly, I still think of it as a businessman phone, but anyone can have one. I guarantee not all 'chavs' have them.
Answering your question, I don't really have a view on them. It's a phone; yeah, it has fancy bells and whistles, can dance and make the tea, but people buy phones for two primary functions: calling and texting. If it can do those decently, then it's all fine. A phone should, in my opinion, be built around those two functions, although the idea of a phone being for calling and texting seems to be going out of fashion.

Ok i didnt mean to call everyone that 'buys' the phone a chav. But alot of 'chavy' people in my area/town seem to have these phones. Also im not really talking anout the July riots, more about small 'riots' like organising to smash peoples windows and cars etc. It is a cheap easy IRC network so idk........

Even so, text messages would be equally effective for organised illegal activity. I would know :P
Nah, just kidding! Also, people don't generally organise vandalism. It's usually just something that happens on the spot. I get what you're saying, but if I'm honest, I really don't think it plays a significant part, and anyway, without BBM these people would still find a way to communicate. Nowadays, people feel the need for the world to know everything that happens, as it happens. I suppose we're a connected society, for want of a better word.
Besides that, BBM has it's uses, I don't doubt. Legitimate uses. For example, when it works(!) it could make a good business tool (a cheap and easy way for employees to keep in touch, for example) another way for a group of friends to communicate, etc. You have to see it's uses as well as disadvantages. Look at it with a more open mind.

Blackberrys are pretty good phones. I have one (Blackberry 9630) and most of my friends have them so instead of texting and wasting money we just BBM each other :) and they're also pretty easy to use.

I have one and i hate it! The only advantage a blackberry has to any other smart phone is BBM, sure its good for communicating because its like instant messaging and you can check if the person your speaking to has read it yet but the constant broadcoast messages that come with it really annoy me!
most of my friends have them so instead of texting and wasting money we just BBM each other :)
This isn't really true, well for me. Because with my contract i get free text messages so when I text I'm not wasting money, and when I use BBM I'm not saving money. The browsing experience on a blackberry isn't the best either, its slow and freezes alot! Overall the phones ok, it all depends on what your going to use it for, for just texting and BBMing its great, but for browsing the internet its not great.

I have a blackberry curve 8520, like most "chavs" If i knew then what i know about blackberries now i would never get one. I love the keyboard and scroll features but the fact i NEED to carry 2 batteries around with me AND charge the phone when i get home is just ridiculous. Iv heard that later models of the curve like the 9300 and 9350 have better battery lives but i cant personally say that's true.
EDIT: I should probably mention though that it is a VERY sturdy phone, iv dropped mine well over 80 times, You'd expect to be buying a new phone after that but not with mine. I pulled off the top part of the phone after cracking the side of it, so i now have celotape holding on my play button :P My track pad also stopped working after around the 60th drop onto concrete, but i managed to buy a new track pad for £3 off ebay and replace it myself :)

Or, your could get an android phone, get ping chat which is free.. and u can have free texts to anyone on blackberry, iPhone and android... That gets rid of BBM... So yeah blackberrys suck.

I have one of the original blackberrys that were out (if you wanna know what it looks like google original blackberry curve) and I absolutely love it! Okay yes, im not the biggest up to date technology nerd. But this phone has lasted me 3 and a bit years and it's virtually indestructible. However bbm doesn't work on mine as it is so outdated :P -don't worry I'm getting a new phone soon
Having said that I hate the new blackberrys, just because everyone seems To have one, my friends seem to freeze all the time and they are just too common now. So my view= old ones I love and new ones I hate

If you don't need a qwerty keyboard with buttons, i see no reason for buying a blackbarry.
android all the way ! xD

If you like apps, don't get a blackberry. They have a very very limited app market, and developers know who blackberries target audience is. It really is a businessman phone. I personally wouldn't reccomend one for a teen unless your running a small business :P

My friends have them. I just don't like it. It feels like it was basically designed for e-mail and generally the apps are crap. I really like my iPhone but if i had to choose something else, it'd be something running Android.

You have to back this reasoning up with something. This doesn't help the OP.

I got the Blackberry 8530 for Christmas and I love mine! I switched from the Samsung Intercept because my screen cracked. I would only recommend Blackberry phones to people who just want a text, talk, surf and Instant messaging phone. Blackberry apps and stuff can be expensive vs the Android market where a lot of stuff if free so It just depends on if your a gammer or not. =)

I have the BB Curve 3G. I love Blackberrys. Android has a nice OS, but it's never felt very organised to me. The phones all kinda look the same, and they're normally fragile. >_< iOS just annoyes me, though the iPhone 4 is beautiful.
I don't you a lot of apps, like organization, and love QWERTY keyboards. My battery lasts about 2days, and it's durable.
Blackberrys will always be my favorite.

What more do you need?
My dad wanted me to get a blackberry but I have this really hate for them I mean bbm is the only reason people buy them really. Androids are wayyyy better and blackberries are common, be a bit different.

it is true that the build quality of the new handsets is crap which peel away after one drop. it is true that they are prone to data losses and it is true that the company itself is in huge trouble unless they come out with something revolutionary that consumers want.

I only use my Blackberry Curve 8520 for Texting and BBM. I'm not a chav., Sure that was a generalization about 2 years back but not anymore. It's becoming like a business phone for me. It has all my events and messages on there. And I love how the messages merge every message into that one box.
