Friend?

Alright so my best friend's name is Matt. I really do think of him as my very best friend. But, I really don't think I'm his best friend. We've gotten really close over the past year. But, it seems like he hangs around me only when I'm the coolest kid around. When ever anyone else who he thinks is cooler is around he'll hang out with them. And I'm friends with most of these people too. I really feel like our friendship is falling apart. What should I do?

No he's a great person. Its just I can't stand not being his best friend. It's like I try to push our friendship in the right direction but he's trying to keep it where it is. Like he's waiting for someone better. I couldn't stand not being his friend at all. So I don't know what to do. I'm at the point where i'm about to have a breakdown.

I still think he cares what other ppl think so he tries to hang around with the 'cool' kids as much as possible

Yeah he does seem to care what others think. I just hate that he can only be my friend when they're not around. And I'm just as good if not better friends with them as he is. I just need Matt to see that so he will stop being like this.

i am going through the EXACT same thing that u are.
what i did was find a new group of friends and when i do something with them ill give joe(sorta best friend) a call so he knows that im still including him and if he says no or doesnt answer the phone, theres no guilt on my part.
and if he says yes, then youll have a funner night.

(is funner a word or would i be more fun?....defintely not rellevant but both of those sound weird)
