Herpes?

What exactly ARE herpes? And how would you be able to tell if a boy has them or if you would get anything? As if.. you were thinking about oral.. I mean.. I don't really want to get anything like that..

There are a few type of herpes. Herpes Simplex 1 is what causes cold sores. Herpes Simplex 2 is what causes genital herpes. You can get either by having unprotected oral sex while it is still infectious (you have blisters or scabbing.) Once you get it, you have it forever. It stays in your system forever, just like Herpes Zoster (which is what you call Chicken Pox) but it is in a dormant state until something makes it come back.

The best way to find out if someone has it, is to just ask them. Because there are often no physical symptoms of herpes before an outbreak, the best way to know whether your partner has herpes is if you just ask.

If you still wanna check the body, the common symptoms of the virus are small red bumps or open sores that may itch or irritate the genital area and upper thighs. In men, sores will most usually appear on the penis, scrotum or buttocks. You can also ask him if he is having problems pissing. If he is, it's a sign of having the virus. But I wouldn't take just this.

If you don't trust someone enough not to have a STD, I think you shouldn't have sex with them.
